Betty Sue Hudson Loving mother and lifelong teacher Sweet, loving and gentle Betty Sue Hudson, age 81, joined her savior Jesus Christ on Sunday January 4, at her home in Kimberly with family at her side. Betty was born March 17th, 1933, in Natchez Mississippi to Ora Lee and William T. West. Betty graduated from the Mississippi University for Women in 1955 with a degree in education. At college she pursued her love of music and sports, playing the clarinet in jazz band and competing in tennis tournaments. After college Betty started her teaching career in Florida. It was here in 1956 that she met Edwin Hudson, became close friends, and later married on January 10, 1959. Over the next 24 years Edwin and Betty lived all across the United States and Europe, raising their family, meeting lifelong friends, and eventually settling in Idaho after Edwin retired as Colonel in the United States Air Force in 1982. Throughout her life Betty had many titles: daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. But no title in her life is more important than the one of "Teacher". Over 27 years Betty taught children across the United States and in the Netherlands how to read and write. Second to teaching, Betty was an active follower of Christ in the United Methodist Church. Her participation in the church included many years of singing in the choir. It was the Kimberly United Methodist church where Betty, along with Edwin, made so many lasting friendships and found a permanent home to rejoice in our Lord Jesus Christ. Betty is survived by her husband, retired Colonel Edwin C. Hudson, her daughters Danielle (Mike) Drake and Susan (Sumner) Wells, her sons Steve (Katherine) and Tom (Cory) Hudson, 5 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, sister Billie Ann Foster, and brother Tommy West. A viewing will be held January 8th from 6-8 pm at Parke's Funeral Home in Twin Falls. Graveside services will be held at the Buhl cemetery on January 9th, 11am, for family and close friends. A memorial service will follow at Crossroads United Methodist Church 131 Syringa Ave, in Kimberly at 1 pm followed by dinner. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Betty Sue Hudson Scholarship Fund at Crossroads Methodist Church would be greatly appreciated. Those who wish may share memorials and condolences on her memorial page at www.magicvalleyfuneralhome.com. Arrangements are under the direction of Parke's Magic Valley Funeral Home of Twin Falls.
