Judy West

February 11, 1947 — January 4, 2014

D. Beverly Huckfeldt, 95, Twin Falls, died peacefully on January 3, 2015 at Bridgeview after a brief battle with cancer. (Donna) Beverly was born in Spencer, Nebraska on December 19, 1919 to Bessie and Donald Helvey. She was the youngest of four children, immediately bringing joy into this loving family. She attended schools in Fairmont, Nebraska, graduating high school in 1937. Upon her graduation, she began teaching in a small country school. However, two years later, Bev decided to work her way through college and earn a teacher's degree. With this degree in hand, she began teaching Kindergarten students, but was especially delighted when her teaching assignments expanded, enabling her to teach her love of music to all grade levels. She taught in Nebraska, Wyoming, and California. Early in 1948, Beverly met Eugene (Gene) Huckfeldt. Later that year, they married and sixty exciting years ensued. In 1953, the first of many moves took them to California. Upon settling into this new state, they embedded themselves in the neighborhood and surrounding community. They chose a church home and became active in the congregation. With each subsequent move, they repeated the pattern, making good friends along the way. Their final move brought them to Twin Falls. Happiness and excitement followed the handsome couple. Having no children of their own, they gathered their nieces and nephews around them. Those same nieces and nephews remember the excitement that came whenever their favorite relatives visited. Bev loved teaching, traveling, camping, fishing, playing cards, reading, and happy hours. Her lifelong love of music was a gift she gladly shared in their home churches. She played the piano and organ, as well as sang solos. Her latest church homes were Peace Lutheran of Filer and Immanuel Lutheran of Twin Falls. After celebrating their 60th anniversary, Gene passed away, leaving Bev without her compass. She moved into Bridgeview and lived her final years enjoying all the attention the staff bestowed on her. When her roommate and best friend, Edith Smith, passed away, the quality of Bev's life again was altered. For the first time, Bev voiced that she was ready to leave this earth. Therefore, when the Heavenly Angels surrounded her to take her home, she was laughing and again repeating her silly jokes. Beverly leaves behind her favorite sister, Doris Youtz, and Doris' children, Jeff (Tina) Youtz of Boise, and Melody (Ron) Ilk of Colorado. Gene's nephews and nieces will also miss her: Norman (Dorene) Huckfeldt of Twin Falls, David (Mary Snider) of Washington, Frank (Denise) Koch of Nebraska, Virginia Hansen of Nebraska, and Jolee Gee, also of Nebraska, along with all their extended families. Beverly was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her siblings, Mildred and Buford (Helen) Helvey, and two nephews, Dennis Youtz and Donald Koch. A memorial service for Beverly will be held on Friday, January 9, 2014, 11 AM at Immanuel Lutheran Church of Twin Falls. Inurnment will take place at a later date in the cemetery of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Holstein, Nebraska. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church School. Arrangements are under the direction of Parke's Magic Valley Funeral Home, 2551 Kimberly Road in Twin Falls.
