Norma Lou Bergin

November 8, 1935 — December 2, 2014

Norma Lou Bergin, 79 of Twin Falls Idaho died December 2, 2014 at River Ridge Care and Rehabilitation Center in Twin Falls, Idaho. She was born Norma Lou Broyles, November 8, 1935 in Hailey, Idaho to Otto and Elizabeth Broyles. She was the youngest child born into a family of four children with three older brothers. In seventh grade, she was diagnosed with polio and was placed in an iron lung for one year. Her family owned a little business called Broyles Pharmacy and as a teenager she worked behind the soda fountain. She was also in Job's Daughters in junior high, and throughout high school and was also involved with Campfire Girls. On February 22, 1953, she married her high school sweetheart, Fran Bergin. Shortly after that union, they welcomed a son, Don and two years later a daughter came along, Cindy. In 1958, Fran moved to California for Mortuary School and two months later Norma moved her and their two children down to be with him. In 1960, they moved back to Shoshone, Idaho and bought the mortuary in Shoshone renaming it Bergin Funeral Chapel. Norma assisted Fran in the business, where she kept the books and helped with all the funerals. They also had many other businesses including Bergin Rentals, taking care of the school busses and assisting Fran on the ambulance service. In 1962 they welcomed another daughter, Tammy. Norma was a member of the First Baptist Church of Shoshone. Norma always thought of her family first and often said her purpose in life was her grandchildren. She never missed any grandkid's events. She always had a sixth sense when someone in the family was sick and was always there to help out. She enjoyed many things including toll painting, ceramics, pinochle and bridge, working in her flower beds, sewing, knitting and crocheting. Surviving Norma is her loving husband of 61 years, Fran, her three children, Don of Boise, Cindy (Robert) Young of Twin Falls, and Tammy (Gary) Swaner of Shoshone, her brother Richard (Elaine) Broyles of Moscow, six grandchildren, Pat Matthews of Texas, Becky (Joe) LaManna of Ketchum, ID, Kristine (Fred) McDonald of Jerome, Greg (Khara) Sant of Kimberly, Joe (Jody) Young of Kimberly and David Young of Hansen, ID; nine great-grandchildren, Domonick, Kyla, Shay, Wiley, Ryan, Brianna, Cody, Mason, Kaiden and Jake.
