Chester (Chet) Lawrence Talley Chester (Chet) Lawrence Talley, 89 of Twin Falls, ID passed away September 20, 2010 in Harvey, LA. He had been living with daughter, Linda and son-in-law Sam Wegner since July 2009. Chester Talley was born April 10, 1921 in Rupert, ID to Dale Oak Talley and Adele Bashford Talley. His family moved to Kansas when he was 2 years old and after living in Kansas for 10 years they returned to Rupert. He graduated from Rupert High School in 1940. In the fall of 1941 he went to Chicago, IL to attend De Forest Radio & Television School where he graduated in 1942. On June 4, 1942 he enlisted in the United States Army and served during WWll in Northern Africa and Northern Italy. He achieved the rank of Staff Sargent serving in the 15th Air Force Signal Corp as a radio repairman on the planes. He was Honorably Discharged on November 1, 1945. While in Chicago he sent for his fiancée, Dorothy Louise Bell of Rupert, ID and they were married on June 10, 1942. They lived in Chicago, Philadelphia and San Antonio while Chester attended school before being sent overseas. After the war he farmed for 2 years in the Rupert area before moving to Twin Falls, ID in 1948. He ran Home Market Grocery Store for a brief time, worked for Independent Meat Co, Lou Thorson and Dale's Home Electric. He worked for Dale's Electric for 10 years and then went to school to become a Journeyman Electrician. In the spring of 1959 he started Star Electric Co. He was the owner and operator for 25 years. Micheal Talley, his son bought the business and Chester continued to work for an additional seven years. In 1991 he began teaching the Apprenticeship Electrical Code School classes at CSI. Mr. Talley belonged to El Korah Shrine Club and was a member of the Magic Mini's Patrol and rode in many parades throughout the area. He was a life time member of the Scottish Rite Mason and a life time member of the Grand Jurisdiction of AF & AM, Twin Falls Lodge 45. He was also a life time member for BPOE in Twin Falls as well as a member of the American Legion. He was a Past Worthy Paton of Magic Chapter 82 Order of Eastern Star. He and his wife Dorothy moved to Harvey, LA to live with their daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Sam Wegner in July 2009. The move to Louisiana gave him the chance to spend time getting to know grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Chester and Dorothy enjoyed the warmer winter weather in Louisiana so they could take walks after lunch even in January. He learned to enjoy "Cajun" cooking and had a grand time at the "crawfish and crab boils" down the Bayou. Mr. Talley loved to fish, hunt, and work in his shop, play cards, spend time traveling in the motor home, and enjoying time with friends and family. He was a very caring man and would do anything he could to help someone out. He dedicated his life to taking care of his wife and family. He was a true "gentleman" in every sense of the word. Dorothy Louise Bell Talley Dorothy (Dot) Louise Bell Talley, 92, passed away on Oct. 20, 2014 in Twin Falls, ID. She had been staying at her granddaughter's Brandy Reed's home. She had recently returned to Twin Falls after living near her daughter and son-in-law Linda and Sam Wegner since 2009. Dorothy Louise Bell was born April 21, 1922 in Rupert, ID to Lloyd Rule Bell and Sarah Elizabeth Barton Bell. She lived on the family farm in Paul, ID and attended school there for 10 years. Her family moved to Rupert, ID and she graduated from Rupert High School in 1940. She attended college at Albion State Normal School graduation with a teaching degree in 1942. In June after graduation from college she took the train from Shoshone to Chicago, IL to marry Chester Lawrence Talley on June 10, 1942. They spent some time in Chicago, IL in Philadelphia, PA and in San Antonio, TX while Chester was attending training to prepare to serve in WWll. Dorothy moved to Salt Lake City, UT to work as an inspector of ammunition at Remington Small Arms Plant. When the factory was moved to Washington State she returned to Idaho where she worked as an inspector at a potato processing plant. Upon her husband's return from serving in WWll they farmed for 2 years in the Rupert, ID area. They moved to Twin Falls, ID in 1948 where they ran the Home Market Grocery Store for a brief time. Chester Talley started Star Electric Co, in 1959 and Dorothy was the book keeper for the business for 25 years. Dorothy Talley was a member of Ladies of Elks, Zenobia Club #2 and 20th Century Club of Twin Falls, ID. She was Past Matron of Magic Chapter 82 Order of Eastern Star, Past Grand Representative of Montana and Idaho, Order of Easter Star. She also belonged to Iris Temple # 40 of Boise, ID. Dorothy and Chester Talley moved to the New Orleans, LA area to live with daughter Linda and son-in-law Sam Wegner. She enjoyed the warm winter weather and she even like some of that "Cajun" cooking although it could be "pretty spicy" but she really like eating shrimp and boiled crawfish. Dorothy and Chester Talley had 3 children, Micheal Talley (Lilas) Twin Falls, ID, Linda Wegner (Samuel) High Point, NC and Diana Bridwell Twin Falls, who proceeded them in death. They had 9 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. Dorothy loved to read, watch tv and beautiful flowers, all kinds of music, playing cards with friends and playing bingo. She enjoyed fishing and hunting in her younger days and traveling in the motor home. She liked spending time with her friends and making her home a comfortable and pretty place. Chester and Dorothy Talley had 3 children, Micheal Talley (Lilas) Twin Falls, Linda Wegner (Samuel Wegner) High Point, NC and Diana Bridwell, Twin Falls who preceded them in death. They had 9 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
