Paula, our mother and matriarch, left us on Monday, October 13th to join her beloved husband Theodore F. Lindner and first son Frank Moss to be in the company of her family that has gone on before. I am sure that Ted was there to escort her to her new home. Of my mother there is one thing to be said: She was not a timid woman, but was in charge of her life and directed those around her. She was born in Ogden Utah on September 4th, 1926 to Robert H. Holmes and Nellie Canning. She grew up in Ogden and graduated from Ogden High School in 1944. She had a good childhood and at one time became an accomplished competitive roller skater. We still have her skates on the shelf in the closet. After High School Paula attended Weber State College where she earned and Associated Degree. She met and married the man who was the father of her first son Frank. After her divorce she met and married Howard G. Cornia. From this union two sons and a daughter were born. Michael James, Steven Paul, and Susan Catherine. She was the guiding light in our lives and after the marriage failed, raised us all to be good and successful individuals. Paula went on to earn a Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education from Weber State College. From there she took us to Stockton California where she worked at Edison High School in the Physical Education Department. She coached both swimming and volley ball for many years at Edison. She essentially built the swimming program from the ground floor. Paula obtained a Master's Degree for Pacific University in Athletic Training. She used this training by volunteering her time as an Athletic Trainer for the sports program at Edison High. She retired from Edison High School after many years of dedicated service to the students who attended there. Paula was also an educator at Delta Community College in Stockton California. She worked many years there as a Swimming Instructor. Paula met and married Theodore Lindner in 1968 and the two of them were together until his death in 2009. They were sealed together in the Oakland Temple. Paula in her life enjoyed many activities. In her early life she was an avid roller skater. She enjoyed teaching and coaching. She touched many lives in her career. She really enjoyed swimming and up until her passing looked forward to getting in the pool where she would swim a mile a day. She made many friends in the pool and would take any opportunity to use her coaching skills to help out a struggling swimmer. Paula also served many assignments in the different wards she attended in the LDS Church. At one time she spent several years as the Relief Society President in her ward in Stockton Calif. Both she and Ted spent many years as Temple Workers in both the Oakland Temple and Twin Falls Temple. Paula was also a proud member the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers Organization. Last and not least she was loved by all and will be surely missed.
