Lois Budd, 88, passed away peacefully on September 25, 2014 at Bridgeview Estates, ending a four year battle with leukemia. She was born in Tillamook, Oregon, the youngest of six children born to Guy and Bessie Fairbanks. Her family moved to Hazelton to be farmers, taking some of the Greenwood area out of sagebrush. After graduating from Hazelton Rural High School, she married Dale Budd on August 21, 2014 and raised three children; Ron, Terry and Diane. They lived and worked on the Budd family farm until the interstate was built in 1964 and then bought another farm a half mile south. Besides helping Dale on the farm, Lois worked as a bookkeeper for Bean Growers Warehouse in Hazelton and later in Twin Falls. She took a couple of years off to try her hand at making draperies, then went back to Bean Growers until she retired. She and Dale ere very active people, trying many different activities throughout their lives. In their early years, they square danced for over thirty years and snowmobiled. In late 1989 they moved to a house on the Jerome Golf Course and took up the game of golf, pool and became members of the Elks Lodge in Jerome. They loved to travel; having great times, no matter if it was a long vacation or a Sunday jaunt; you could say that they didn't let the grass grow under their feet and that enjoying life was their goal. In 2012, when Dale passed after 67 years of marriage, Lois became a regular face at the Jerome Senior Citizen's center where she played pool and pinochle. She met some good friends that helped her through her loneliness with weekend drives and early evening dinners. Lois was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 3 brothers, 1 son, 1 grandson and 1 granddaughter. She is surived by her sisters; Arlene Grose of Twin Falls and Ruth Harris of Boise; son, Ron of Jerome; daughter, Diane (Jack) Cooper of Hazleton; daughter in law Paula (Terry) of Twin Falls; 7 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Graveside service, under the direction of Parke's Magic Valley Funeral Home, will be held at 3pm on Thursday, October 9, 2014, at Sunset Memorial Park in Twin Falls. Mike D. Parke will be officiating. Online condolences can be submitted to www.magicvalleyfuneralhome.com.
