Twin Falls- Raymond A. "Ray" Ketterling passed away peacefully Sunday August 31, 2014 at River Ridge. He will be missed. Surviving him are his wife Esther, his children Becky (Tony) Tucker and Mark Ketterling his four grandchildren Wendy (Brandon) Otts, Mark (Jenny), and Micheal (Nelli) Tucker and Joni (Troy) Kofoed and thee great grandchildren Ryker and Mason Otts, and Kaleb Tucker. Ray was born in Hebron, North Dakota September 1, 1925 to August Ketterling and Lydia Saylor Ketterling. He grew up on the family farm with his brother and three sisters. He attended Hebron school through high school where he graduated in 1945. He attended Ellendale College in Ellendale, North Dakota and also took a short veterinary course in St. Paul, Minnesota. Ray was a hard worker and loved meeting and talking with people. He met his wife Esther while visiting Idaho and they were married on October 22, 1950 in Paul, Idaho. They moved to Idaho Falls where Ray worked at Snake River Equipment, INL, and for eighteen years with the City of Idaho Falls. Esther and Ray had two children Rebecca (Becky) in 1953 and Mark in 1957. Ray was an active member of the Order of Eastern Star where he served many times as Worthy Patron and one time he even served with his daughter. He was also active in the Methodist Church serving on various committees. Ray and Esther loved to travel all over the U.S. They also really enjoyed camping and the outdoors. Ray was an amazing inventor and builder. When they were growing up, Becky and Mark thought that their dad could repair anything. He did many remodel projects on his own and loved to make things in his garage. Upon retirement, Ray and Esther moved to Twin Falls where they could be closer to their children and grandchildren. Ray truly enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, Ray and Esther made it a point to attend all high school and college graduations. Every day Ray took a walk with his friend Dean and stayed active long into retirement. Ray was a good man, a truly wonderful grandfather and very modest individual. He even asked that we keep his obituary short. His family is blessed and lucky to have had him in their lives. Visitation for Ray will be held Thursday, September 4, 2014 from 5:30 ~ 7:30 p.m. at Parke's Magic Valley Funeral Home 2551 Kimberly Road, Twin Falls. Funeral services will be held Friday, September 5, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home with burial being held at 2:00 p.m. at the Paul Cemetery in Paul, Idaho.
