FERN ELIZABETH JACKY LEWIS Fern Lewis left this Magic Valley where she lived all of her life on August 5, 2014. She was 98 years old. Fern was born in Twin Falls, Idaho on December 14, 1915, the fifth child of William Otto Jacky and Sarah Elizabeth Wilson Jacky. She joined her three older sisters (Florence, Helen and Gladys) and one older brother (Roland) and was later joined in turn by her younger sisters (Betty and Elna) and her younger brothers (Howard, Lester and Robert). The Jackys lived on the family farm located on Filer Avenue west of town. She attended local schools graduating from Twin Falls High School in 1932/1933. She became a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Twin Falls at an early age and at her death was one of the oldest living members. In 1936 Fern married Roger Dean Lewis of Twin Falls and moved to the Boone-Lewis ranch, just south of the municipal golf course, which had been established by dad's Uncle Arthur Boone in 1904. In 1946 they acquired an adjoining property to create the existing ranch. After Uncle Art's death in 1952 they built the present brick house on the home place where mother has lived ever since. In April of 1939 a sonNicholas Dean Lewis joined the family followed In February 1943 by a second sonDarrel Lee Lewis. The Lewis 4 lived and worked on the farm doing all the things that farm families do with tractors, trucks, cattle and sheep as well as church and youth groups, school, music lessons, scouts, 4-H, grandparents and multiple family members; picnics and a cabin near Sun Valley provided summer/winter fun. Lastly, they acquired a mountain ranch just south of Sun Valley with extensive range rights for running cattle in the summer and fall where mother was able to experience many opportunities to ride her horses in the great Idaho outdoors. Finally, there were her returning children, grandchildren and great grandchildren to enjoy Idaho ranch life and their extended family. Mother and dad were accomplished bridge players, with mother continuing to play duplicate bridge after dad's death in 1992. Travel both inside and outside of the country was also a source of great enjoyment.
