Susanne (Sue) Ohlaug Roesler went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on June 4, 2014 at 3:45 AM. We are so thankful for God's gift of her to us and all that He did through her life. She was born January 9, 1943, to Joseph and Isabelle Ohlaug of Nampa, Idaho. She grew up in Southern Idaho and graduated from Twin Falls High School in 1961. She attended Concordia Junior College in Portland, OR (1961-1963) and graduated from Concordia Senior College, River Forest, Illinois (1965). On July 9, 1965, Sue married Daniel Roesler at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Twin Falls. Throughout their lives, they always shared and lived the message of God's grace through Jesus' death and resurrection. Both were active in church ministry when they lived in Missouri and Minnesota and then for 25 years at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Fremont, California. Upon moving to the Roesler Family Farm in Idaho, they continued to participate in ministry through Clover Trinity Lutheran Church. Sue was delighted by the community of people that surrounded her and thankful to God for allowing her those 13 years back in Idaho. She knew from a young age that she wanted to teach and she loved helping children learn to write. While living in Fremont, California, she began substitute teaching and went on to teach 4th and 5th grade for over 20 years at Alvarado Middle School in Union City. In Idaho, she taught at Immanuel Lutheran School for eight years. After retiring, she volunteered at the Clover Christian School in several capacities. She was a master teacher and was chosen to go to the White House and receive her school's national award. The Lord blessed Sue with many different opportunities throughout her life. When her children were small, Sue worked as an assistant at a rest home in Minnesota and taught her children a love for the elderly. She also played "Klutz the Purple Kangaroo" on Bible Story Time, a children's TV show in Minneapolis in the early 70's. Superintending and teaching Sunday School, singing in school and church choirs, playing and coaching soccer, and helping with jail ministry, Gideons, and ReStore are other ways she spent her time. Sue was an artist who dabbled in many mediums, including stained glass, batiks, oils, watercolors, and poetry. She also got to fulfill a lifetime dream when she traveled with grandchildren to Norway, Hawaii, and Disneyland. Most meaningful for her spiritual life was her travel to Israel where she was able to see the actual sights of Biblical accounts. Sue is survived by her mother, Isabelle Lampe of Twin Falls, her brother, Raymond (Peggy) Ohlaug of Meridian, and her sister-in-law Faye Hall of Newark, CA. She has four children: Rebecca (Robert) Moore of Declo, Jamie (Bruce) Barrett of Patterson, CA, David (Melissa) Roesler of Union City, CA, and Jonathan Roesler of Boise. She has nine wonderful grandchildren (ages 3 yrs to 24 years old), nieces and nephews, many cousins and Aunt Mary of South Carolina. Sue also leaves behind many friends in the Clover Community and elsewhere. She was preceded in death by her father, Joseph Ohlaug, her husband, Dan, and her grandson, Aidan. Services will be Wednesday, June 11 at 11:00 AM at Clover Lutheran Church in Buhl, Idaho. Interment will follow in the Clover Cemetery with a reception in the school gym. A viewing will be held at Parke's Magic Valley Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 10, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, Sue requested memorials be directed to the Twin Falls mission ministry of "Fit 4 Life Abundant", 149 Main Ave. East, Twin Falls, ID, 83301.
