Walter M. Mueller (Walt), 84, of Twin Falls, Idaho, passed away on Tuesday, May 27, 2014. He was born on July 13, 1929, to Henry M.G. Mueller and Alma Meyer Mueller in Kiowa, Nebraska. He was the second youngest of eight children and was raised in Thayer County, Nebraska. He attended school at Kiowa through the eighth grade when his education was postponed due to responsibilities on the family farm during WWII. Walt joined the Army and served active duty at the 7th Army headquarters in Frankfurt Germany as the personal driver for the highest ranking officers. He was honorably discharged. Walt was proud when his grandson chose to serve in the United States Air Force. After his military service Walt moved to Seattle WA where he was employed by Boeing Aircraft Company. In 1957, he went home to Nebraska for Christmas where he met his future wife, Sheridan "Sheri" Lewis. They wed in August of 1958. To this union three children were born; Cyndi, Dawna and Kevin. In 1960 the family moved to Idaho for an employment opportunity, driving long haul truck. After driving for several years, Walt was employed by various farming entities. In 1973, they purchased their farm where Walt resided for the remainder of his life. Walt had many achievements throughout his lifetime. He was the first President of the Idaho Rural Council, through which his involvement provided him the opportunity to travel many parts of the United States. He was the past Commander of the American Legion, part-owner in the Twin Falls Livestock Commission Company, and active in numerous farming related organizations. Walt achieved his life long dream and challenged all of the required courses at the College of Southern Idaho and graduated with his GED, finally able to finish his education in 1989. Walt enjoyed woodworking, aviation, fishing, visiting with his many friends and his morning coffee at Curry Crossing. Walt is survived by his wife Sheri of Twin Falls, ID, his three children, Cyndi and Gary McCowan of Dietrich, Dawna and Bob Sears of Chico, CA, Kevin and Cindy Mueller of Twin Falls, ID, his siblings, Irma Sunderman of Clarinda, IA, Alfred and LaMira Mueller of Superior, NE, brother in law Otis Sunderman of Lincoln NE, Sister in law Lois Mueller of Deshler NE, seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Memorial contributions can be made to the Wounded Worrier Project, St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital or The Disabled American Veterans in memory of Walt.
