On May 15, 2014 Frederick Alan Smith of Twin Falls Idaho, previously of the Baltimore MD area, passed away at Stony Creek Living Center. It was his 76th birthday. Fred was the third child and only son of Fred Wilson and Ethel Clare Morford Smith. Fred was born in Clendennin WV, grew up in Spencer WV and was a member of the Spencer High School Class of 1956. Fred attended West Virginia University where he was a member of Delta Tau Delta fraternity. After enlisting in the United States Air Force in 1960, Fred graduated Phi Beta Kappa with a BS in Electrical Engineering from Arizona State University in 1963. During his 20 year Air Force career Fred earned four Master's Degrees and was awarded the Meritorious Service Award several times. After retiring as a Major from the US Air Force in 1980, Fred worked for several defense contractors in the environmental-technology industry in the Baltimore area. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Margaret Louise (Peggy) Sinnett and step-son Raymond Warfield. Fred is survived by sisters Jane Secrist (Dave) of Twin Falls, Idaho and Mary Holbert of Birmingham AL; nephews Eric Sinnett, Chris Sinnett and Fred Sinnett and niece Liz Sinnett all of California, nieces Laura Clarke (George) of AL, Tracey Parker of ID, and Betsy Trively (Martin) of GA; numerous great nephews and nieces and a great-great nephew; step-daughters Brenda Warfield of FL, Pam Stillman and Cindy Guzman (Gene) of CA, Patti Ardrey of VA and Annette Hughes (John) of Australia; and numerous step-grandchildren. Burial will be in the Idaho State Veteran's Cemetery in Boise, Idaho with full military honors.
