Zola Frances Bartlett McFarland 1925 ~ 2014 Zola Frances Bartlett McFarland, on Friday April 25, 2014 was freed of her earthly bonds, to join her loved ones that have gone before her. Zola was the seventh child of twelve born to lrl H. Bartlett, Sr. and Beulah Thorpe Bartlett at her great-grandmother's home in Sullivan County, Missouri, December 19, 1925. with five more siblings soon to follow. Fiery red-headed Zola learned early to stand up for herself and value her own opinion, which she readily voiced without hesitation. The Bartlett's, being victims of the Depression and the Dust Bowl era of the 30's, relocated to the Magic Valley, arriving Easter Sunday 1936. Zola graduated from Twin Falls High School, Class of 1944. Other than babysitting, her first job was waitressing, syrup making, inventory and shift scheduling at the Peter Pan on Main Street. In 1945, she began her career with the Twin Falls Flour Mill as Lab Tech and later Chemist of the Burley Mill. In 1971, Zola retired to accompany her husband 'Mac', head miller to the Alton, Illinois Mill. During this seven year retirement, she took up all the housekeeping duties and spoiling Mac completely, besides trying to learn crocheting which turned out to be the "PITS" and golf. Upon returning to Idaho, she attended classes and became a successful realtor. Zola married Kay Allen "Mac" McFarland June 1949, which brought great joy to every niece and nephew in the Bartlett family. In 1950, Zola was initiated into the Order of Eastern Star, to which she was a very active member the rest of her life. In 2004, Zola was Crowned Grand Royal Matron of Idaho Order of Amaranth, which she served with pride and enthusiasm. Zola traveled extensively across the globe, and on one trip she visited 15 countries in 30 days. Many trips with her sisters Issy, Aileen and brother-in-law Gene Webb; they saw the sights of Hawaii, Australia, the Kentucky Derby, Calgary Stampede, Branson, Mo., and even a 10 day Mexican cruise! Zola could sing-song little rhymes and poems she learned from her grandmothers in Missouri. She would recite these so fast I couldn't write quick enough let alone repeat them. The many sides of Zola will be sorely missed by all that knew and loved her. Surviving Zola are her sisters, Isabelle Wilson of Twin Falls, Aileen (Gene) Webb of San Gabriel, Ca. brother Russell (Marvina) Bartlett, Sr. of Twin Falls, and many nieces and nephews. Her parents lrl & Beulah Bartlett, beloved husband Mac, five brothers, and three sisters Delwin, Delbert, Vernon, lrl Jr, and Bob Bartlett, Amanda Overmon, Wanita Sweetand, Mildred Kurtz, one niece Annette Petty, and one nephew James Sweet preceded her in death. Visitation for Zola will be held Friday, May 2, 2014 from 5:00-7:00 P.M. at Parke's Magic Valley Funeral Home 2551 Kimberly Road, Twin Falls, Idaho.
