Birchie V. Brown 1923-2014 Birchie V. Brown passed away April 24. Birchie was born October 4, 1923, in Kimberly, to Lloyd T. Brown and Belle Weech. He was raised on the family farm with sisters Capitola "Cappie" Larsen and Blanche. Birchie learned to ride horses at a young age and helped with the farming and cattle operation. At 14, Birchie lost his dad as the result of a horse team accident, and became the man of the family'. Birchie married Johanna Sievers in 1943 and together, they raised their 3 children - Taylor, Melody, and Julie, on the family farm south of Kimberly, in Pleasant Valley. The family all worked hard, farming, raising horses and their purebred Milking Shorthorn cattle. Birchie always loved his horses and dogs and spent his spare time training them on cattle. Birchie enjoyed kids and led the Pleasant Valley 4-H Club for 25 years, devoting countless hours to the kids and their entries at the Filer Fair. Birchie and Johanna were members of the Pleasant Valley Grange, MV Reined Cowhorse Association, MV Appaloosa Club, Idaho Cutting Horse Association and the Idaho Milking Shorthorn Association. Birchie loved the South Hills, where he spent many long hours moving cattle. He always had his cow dogs with him, everywhere he went. He enjoyed having family and friends stop by the farm to visit, always having a "cowboy story" to share, and loved branding season, when everyone came to help. He was preceded in death by parents, wife Johanna, and infant son Birchie Leroy. He is survived by his sisters - Capitola Larsen and Blanche Johnson, Buhl; children - Melody (Monte) Loveland, Burley, Julia (Bobby) Ridley, Buhl, and Taylor (Patty) Brown, Kimberly; grandchildren- Levi (Tiffany) Brown, Meridian, Lindsay (Jared) Williams, Twin Falls, and Jordan and Rachael Ridley (Buhl); and greatgranchildren - Zack, Gavin, Bella and Ashton. We know Birchie is riding in the mountains on a fine buckskin horse, with a good Heeler dog close behind 'going to work cows'. We'll miss you, Dad. Visitation for Birchie will be held Sunday, April 27, 2014 from 6-8:00 P.M. at Parke's Magic Valley Funeral Home 2551 Kimberly Road, Twin Falls, with Graveside Funeral Services being held Monday, April 28, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery in Twin Falls, Idaho.
