Jean Nannette Gascho

Jean Nannette (Nan) Gascho, 62, resident of Twin Falls, Idaho died unexpectedly in her home the morning of April 18, 2014. Nan was born on September 10, 1951 in Troy New York to John and Betty Brock. She graduated from Nyack High School, located in Nyack NY, in 1969 and Michigan State University in 1973 Nan began her work career with General Motors in Detroit. After a number of years with GM she moved to Atlanta GA and worked for Coca Cola in their corporate offices. In the mid-90's, at the encouragement of a workmate, Nan enrolled in the Masters of Biblical Counseling at Dallas Theological Seminary (DTS). She received her Masters degree in 2002 and spent the next several years working as a counselor in the Dallas Texas area. In the fall of 1998 Nan met Tim Gascho, her future husband, in a seminary class at a DTS extension in Chattanooga, TN. Over the next several years their friendship grew into a romance that culminated in marriage on May 14, 2005. In 2006 they moved to Gilbert, AZ to be near Nan's parents. In the spring of 2008 they moved again to Caldwell, ID so Nan could attend chaplain training at St. Luke's Hospital in Boise, ID. Upon completion of her training, Nan served first as a hospital chaplain at St Luke's and then as a hospice chaplain with Heart n Home Hospice in Caldwell, ID. In November 2012 she joined the staff of Hospice Visions in Twin Falls as a hospice chaplain, bereavement coordinator and community educator. It was as a hospice chaplain that Nan found her true calling. She found great fulfillment in ministering to the needs of those facing the end of life and helping others cope with the loss of loved ones. Nan enjoyed quilting, reading, watching old movies with her husband and spending time with friends. She was an active member of Filer Mennonite Church. She was on the board of Kids Count 2, a program that helps children grieve. She led several caregiver and grief and loss support groups in the community Nan used her love of quilting to organize a quilting club in Buhl, ID to make lap quilts for residents of assisted living facilities and memory bears for loved ones for grieving their loss. She is survived by her husband Tim (pastor of Filer Mennonite Church), her parents John and Betty Brock of Mesa, AZ; two brothers Jim (wife Pam) Brock of Knoxville, TN and Roland Brock of Small Wood, NY, and a sister Jan (husband Will) Smith of Pueblo, CO; and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service for Nan will be held on Friday, April 25 at 2pm. at the Filer Mennonite Church. Donations may be given in Nan's memory to Hospice Visions in Twin Falls, ID Arrangements are under the direction of Parke's Magic Valley Funeral Home of Twin Falls.
