Marjorie Louise Schmoe

Marjorie Louise Collins Schmoe Filer - Marjorie L. (Collins) Schmoe, loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and sister passed away on April 10, 2014, at her home in Filer. Her unconditional love and devotion to family, were central to her entire life. Her family always came first. Her skills and interests were many and varied. She especially enjoyed entering her antiques and collectibles in the county fair. She owned an antique store in Barstow CA in the 1970s, and was an Avon representative for over 35 years, in California and Idaho. Marjorie L. Collins Schmoe was born in Churchill, Cassia Co., ID, August 2, 1925, the daughter of Mark and June Rhoades Collins. Her early childhood years were spent in Shenandoah Iowa. She started first grade there at the age of 5. In 1934 the family moved to Missouri where Marjorie skipped a grade, putting her into the same grade as her sister Betty. They graduated from 8th grade in Missouri then started high school there. They attended high schools in Idaho (Hagerman), then Oregon. Marjorie graduated in 1941, from Newberg High school in Newberg OR, when she was only 15 years old. In 1942, Marjorie married her high school sweetheart, Merl Schmoe, at Chehalem Center, near Newberg Oregon. In 2012, they celebrated 70 years of married life together, at CSI surrounded by family and friends. Marjorie is survived by her husband Merl of Filer, children, Jerry Schmoe of Twin Falls, Shirley Jones of Victorville CA, Barbara (Dennis) Petty, of Tucumseh KS, Judy (George) Swett of Spring Creek NV, and Sandy Wapinski of Filer. Also surviving are sisters, Betty Tucker of Twin Falls, and Doris Clough of Ramona CA, plus a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Ed Collins, sister Rosalie Kuhn, grandson Joseph Jones, and granddaughter Jennifer Swett.
