Gideon George Harr

06/26/1921-03/20/2014 Gideon George Harr Gideon Harr died March 20, 2014 at his home in Twin Falls. He was born June 26, 1921 in Cleveland, North Dakota the 11th of 13 children, to August and Katherine Harr. The family moved from North Dakota to the Twin Falls area in 1923. Gid's mother died when he was 7 and his father when he was 16. He attended schools in Twin Falls. He joined the Marines in 1942 and served until 1945. He married Ruth Schneider July 24, 1946. Ruth had a daughter, Jenny, from a previous marriage. Gid worked for Garrett Freight lines for 36 years, retiring in 1981. He and Ruth built a home between Twin Falls and Filer in 1955, where they lived the rest of their lives. They were both very talented and ambitious people - woodworking and crafts. They danced for many years with the Button and Bows Square Dancers. Traveling all over the country to Jamborees until Ruth died September 6, 2008. He was still very active with the group attending dances two or three times a week, being a caller when he could no longer dance. He walked 5 days a week with the group at C.S.I. and then joined his coffee buddies; Bill Sargent, Les, Vince, Bill, Jim, Denney and Craig at Idaho Joe's for coffee and conversation. He attended the Crossroads Methodist Church in Kimberly and loved visiting with everyone. Our family gives all you guys a heart felt Thank You for making Gid's life so full and enjoyable. Family, friends and neighbors have been wonderful. A very special Thank You to Hospice Visions nurse Steve and Chaplain Nan. They took such good care of Gid and us. Gid is survived by his Stepdaughter Jeanette (Don) Beddingfield, Texas City, TX; Grandchildren Donette (Todd) Rushing and Daniel (Pam) Beddingfield and Great Grandson Daniel Jr.; a large family of Nieces and Nephews: Joan (Glen) Sandau; Gayle (Randy) Hacking; Susan Sandau; Brett Sandau; Kevin (Shelly) Sandau; Don (Judy) Harr; Matt (Tammy) Harr; Jenny (Andy) Newman, all residing in Twin Falls, ID; Karen Harr, Meridian, ID; Donna (Carl) Kelly; Craig (Kayla) Kelly, Buhl, ID; Stacey Lanier, Twin Falls, ID; Angela Kelly, Philadelphia, PA; Melanie Smith, Idaho Falls, ID; Jeff and Scott Veatch, California; Steve (Nancy) Harr; Lisa (Steve) Saucedo; Leslie (Pat) Stoffal; Tracy (Debbie) Harr, Buhl, ID; Tim (Stephanie) Harr, Twin Falls, ID; Jack (Marilyn) Snow, Jerome, ID; Don Snow; John Harr Jr., California; Betty Snow, Oregon; Bill (Llodean) Schlaht; Jim (Julie) Schlaht, Oregon; Ruby (Ron) Kraus, California. He will be so very missed by all. Gid requested any donation be made to the Boys and Girls Club in Twin Falls, ID. Our family has a big space in it now. We all know that he and Ruth are up there dancing their socks off! We love you!! Cremation was done by Parks Funeral as Gid requested. A memorial luncheon will be held at the church, time and date will be in the paper.
