Allen Dean Campeau

November 21, 1936 — March 18, 2014

Allen Dean Campeau, 76, passed away at Twin Falls Care Center on March 18, 2014, after an extended illness. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Carrie ( Debban) Campeau. He is also survived by his sister, Anne Marie Hopkins; 3 sons, Bryce Allen (Phyllis), Clayton Dean (Heidi), Michael James (Leanne), 2 grandsons, Timothy Allen and Christopher; 2 granddaughters, Mary Rose and Carrie Jane; and one great grandson. Nathaniel. Allen is preceded in death by his parents, Robert Leo and Julia Sophia (Dean), his brother, Robert Noel, and his son, Russell Duane. Allen loved nature and the outdoors. As his boys were growing up, he always made sure they spent week ends in the outdoors he loved. More often than not, he would come home on Friday night after working long days all week, load the family into the van and take everyone camping, hiking, fishing, or rock hunting. He especially loved the mountains above and north of Galena. He also held a soft spot in his heart for Beaver, UT where he spent many happy summer days while growing up. Allen had many hobbies that he enjoyed. He loved mining Opal and cutting it down and making it into jewelry that he designed. He was an avid photographer, fisherman, hiker and landscaper. We often teased him that he could throw a plant on the ground, step on it and it would grow. He was able to fully immerse himself into working with plants, fishing, hiking, working around the house doing repairs or photography and be completely at peace with the world. Route sales was his work preference for many years. He developed sales routes for Stewart Sandwiches in Idaho and Nevada; D&A Sales out of Caldwell and Western Music in Twin Falls. He found his true niche when he worked into being a Crop Adjuster for Federal Crop Insurance. He was totally self taught and due to his diligence for learning a subject thoroughly, he became someone that people would go to for help with questions or problem cases. He would travel to areas in Idaho, Montana, and Utah and some times as far away as Alabama for weeks at a time whenever there were related crop problems to be resolved. Voracious reading and an insatiable desire for knowledge could easily be added to his list of accomplishments. Allen filled a big space in this world and will be greatly missed especially by those of us who really knew who he was and what he stood for. His honesty, integrity, love of nature and life were ingrained in his spirit and made him the person he was. We were greatly blessed to have known him and loved him
