Sherry Anne Young Drummond

April 10, 1957 — February 22, 2014

Sherry Anne (Young) Drummond, 56, passed away Saturday February 22nd 2014 at St. Luke's Regional Medical Center. Sherry was born April 10, 1957 in Columbus, Ohio to Joseph and Frieda (Knighton) Young. She was baptized as an infant and later confirmed in the Lutheran Faith. She graduated high school from Twin Falls High School in 1975. Years later she worked vigorously to earn a Bachelor's degree in Corporate Training and Vocational Teacher Education in 2001, and continued on diligently to acquire a Master's Degree in Training and Development in 2004. Sherry was married to David G. Anderson on November 11, 1980. Their daughter Emily was born January 10, 1982. Sherry was later divorced from David and remarried Daniel Patrick Drummond on December 29, 1990. Together they had 3 beautiful children in 10 months; Alexandra, William and Lauren. It was after the birth of these children that Sherry strived to acquire her advanced education; she did this while raising 4 children and working. Sherry worked with ISU's distant learning program, CSI and CCI (Community Council of Idaho). CCI is where Sherry blossomed into the passionate, charismatic, influential teacher that we all know and love. Through the child rearing years Sherry was very involved in her children's extracurricular activities. Sherry relished in supporting her children and involved herself completely in roles such as backstage dance mom, seamstress, soccer mom, carpool mom, and scout mom. Her family was first and most important in her life and she never turned down the opportunity to contribute to her children's success. Another source of great joy in Sherry's life was a group of women called the Diamond Dolls. These women were all cousins who cherished their time together. She was a long time member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Kimberly, ID. She played a supportive role in church organizations including LWML and Good Shepard. Sherry was a woman of virtue and strength that touched the lives of everyone whom she came in contact with, she will be missed greatly. Sherry was survived by Joseph Young (father), Frieda Young (mother), Daniel Drummond (husband), Kenneth and Tina Young (brother), as well as her four children, Emily (Anderson) and Jason Garringer, of Tacoma Wa., Alexandra, William and Lauren Drummond of Twin Falls ID. , as well as countless aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. A viewing will be open to the family and friends at Parke's Magic Valley Funeral Home on Thursday February 27, 2014 from 5 to 8pm. A celebration of Sherry's life will be held at Redeemer Lutheran Church on Friday February 28, 2014 at 11am, Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
