Geraldine Dorothy Kurowski May 28, 1921- February 12,2O14 Born in Chicago to Stanley and Martha Nedza, beloved wife of the late Edward, mother of the late Marshall, sister of Beatrice (late Edward), auntie of Jorry Pierce and Carleen Herring (Joseph) and great-aunt of Abigail Lee (Timothy). Growing up on the south-side of Chicago, Gerry was an avid White Sox fan and enjoyed dancing on Saturday nights at the local ballroom. Catching the eye of the neighbor across the street - Gerry married the handsome boy-next-door in 1946. She and Edward remained married for 43 years until his death in 1991. ln 1956, they were blessed with a son, Marshall. Sadly, Marshall passed suddenly in 2005. Gerry continued to live in Chicago until 2012, when at age 91 she moved across the country to Twin Falls, ldaho to be near her remaining family. One of the early working moms, over a career of several decades, Gerry engaged in various occupations ranging from bobby-pin factory work to her favorite job preparing meals for the children of the Chicago school system. Gerry knew her way around a kitchen and enjoyed preparing and eating good food. Gerry was one of the luckiest people when it came to hitting the jackpot - whether playing cards or bingo. Enjoying her independence at the Senior Suites in Hegewisch, she was often jokingly banned from games for her incredible winning streaks. Our Gerry passed quietly on her dear husband's birthday - reuniting them after twenty-three years apart. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Arrangements are being made by Parke's Magic Valley Funeral Home in Twin Falls. A memorial service will be held in her home town of Chicago in March under the direction of Elmwood Funeral Home. Those wishing to share memories and condolences may do so on Geraldine's memorial webpage at www.magicvalleyfuneralhome.com.
