Ora Faye Strange Hutzler passed away at the home of her sister in Wendell, Idaho, on February 10, 2014. She was 101 years old. Ora was born to a Nevada pioneer family in Elko, Nevada, on January 12, 1913, the daughter of Frank Clay Strange and Susie Huntsman Strange, and was baptized LDS. She was raised on a ranch and graduated from Elko High School. At age 18, she went to work as a secretary in Oakland, Calif. In 1950, she married James Arthur Hutzler. They lived in Pleasanton, Calif., and ran a building contracting company in the San Francisco area. They later moved to Wellington, Nevada, where they operated Silver State Appaloosa Ranch along with their farming and ranching business in Smith Valley. Both Ora and Jim were active in Nevada and California Masonic and Shriner organizations and held several offices. Ora was Past Worthy Matron, Order of the Eastern Star; Past Queen, Daughters of the Nile, Oakland, CA; Past Supreme Worthy High Priestess, Order of the White Shrine of Jerusalem; and was in the Order of the Amaranth and the Order of the Oriental Shrine. After retiring, Ora and Jim lived in Reno. Ora moved to Wendell with her sister, Jean Williams, in 2006. Ora was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jim, a sister, Lavon, and two brothers, John and Roy. She is survived by a sister, Jean Williams, step-daughter Kathy Hutzler Carbone, and several nieces and nephews. Services for Ora will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, February 19, at Walton Funeral Home in Carson City, Nevada. Interment will follow at the Genoa Cemetery in Genoa, Nevada.
