Constance Lewis Hammond 1911 ~ 2013 Constance "Connie" Lewis Hammond, 102 of Burley, Idaho passed away October 10, 2013 at Countryside Care and Rehabilitation Center in Rupert Idaho. She was born March 5, 1911 in Logan, Utah, the daughter of Thomas Coradoc Lewis and Esther Theurer Lewis. Not many people can claim to have lived on this earth for 102 years, and fewer still could have lived those years with as much style and zest as Constance Lewis Hammond. Connie ended her journey on October 10, 2013 and will be remembered as beloved by both family and friends. This go-go girl was born on March 5, 1911 in Logan, Utah where she enjoyed a large family of 2 brothers and 5 sisters. She went on to graduate from Logan High School and met her husband Dean Bauman Hammond while at a school dance. However, these two didn't meet up again until after Dean served a mission for the LDS church. They eventually tied the knot on June 15, 1933 in the Logan Temple and went on to celebrate more than 50 years of marriage together. They settled in Providence, Utah where Connie would have been happy to stay, but fate had different plans in mind. A job opportunity soon led to a move to Paul, Idaho and poor Connie bawled for two weeks upon leaving her beloved Utah. However, she soon shook herself off and took a lifelong vow to, "Bloom where you are planted," and bloom she did. Connie was very active in the LDS church and was a well-respected Sunday school teacher with a turn for story-telling. She also worked for years at Miller Drug and immersed herself in all things creative and crafty, being well known for her ceramics, needlework, and Christmas decorations. In fact, Connie had an eye for beauty that carried into every aspect of her life and she surrounded herself with beauty wherever she was. She also had a special love for Christmas, spending hours decorating her house each year, and she was never happier than when her family gathered around her at this special time. Connie is survived by her daughter Marcelyn (Robert) Dean, and Boyd (Yvonne) Hammond, as well as seven grand-children and numerous great-grandchildren. Connie will be remembered for her adventurous spirit, her love of harmony in her surroundings, and her joy in celebrating even the smallest moments in life. Those wishing to remember Connie are asked to donate to the Burley Public Library or the Magic Philharmonic in lieu of flowers. Funeral services are being provided by Parke's Magic Valley Funeral Home and their thoughtfulness and assistance is greatly appreciated. Surviving Connie is her daughter, Marcelyn (Bob) Dean of Burley Idaho, son, Dr. Boyd (Yvonne) Hammond of Idaho Falls a long with seven grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Dean Bauman Hammond. Visitation for Connie will be held Monday, October 14, 2013 from 10:00 - 11:00 AM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints 7th Ward in Burley, Idaho. Graveside services will be held Monday, October 14, 2013 at 2:30 PM at the Logan Cemetery in Logan, Utah where she will be laid to rest.
