Ronald Burl "Hap" Masoner

Ronald Burl Masoner, 87, of Twin Falls, passed away October 4, 2013. He was born in Rupert, Idaho the son of Charles E. and Emma Masoner on July 24, 1926. He was a graduate of Rupert High School and then entered the US Army Air Corps and served during WWII. Following his stay in the US Army Air Corps he returned to Idaho and began working in 1953 for West Coast Airlines along with various airlines though out his career. He worked and managed the Twin Falls Airport, retiring after 35 years of faithful service in 1987. He loved music, planes, trains, automobiles and sailboats. Hap's true loved was his music, he came from a musical family and it remained a big part of his life, from the marching band as a youngster to playing the organ all his life. Hap was pilot who enjoyed flying every kind of plane and sailplane. Loving to fly he won flying awards from 1951 as best all around pilot up to 1965 where he won first place for the longest sail plane distance, where he had flown for 10 hours with out an engine. Hap also shared his talents as director of the Civil Air Patrol. He always loved an adventure. He and his friends built a tow rope to the top of Magic Mountain so they could enjoy skiing. He also loved Sailing, building model trains, and the outdoors. He supported his family in their activities and supported his children in their life endeavors. Ronald was the support system for his family, always being there for his family. Surviving are his children - Charles (Stephanie) Masoner of North Las Vegas, Nevada, Wayne (Nancy) Masoner of Springfield, Oregon, Brian (Julie) Masoner of Twin Falls, along with four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers and sisters - Merle, Reva, Manford, and Elwood. Ronald's joyous spirit was a testament to all around him. As a child he was a happy baby and earned the nickname "Hap", that nickname followed him all his life. He enriched the lives of all he came in contact with, be that children he led in scouting to the Doctors and nurses who added him in his later years. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, October 10, 2013 at 10 AM at Parke's Magic Valley Funeral Home with private inurnment to follow at the MAR Cemetery in Rupert. Military Honors will take place under the auspices of the Magic Valley Honor Guard and the Idaho National Guard.
