Ed Spiers Jr. 72, of Hansen, passed away September 26, 2013 at his home surrounded by his loving wife Mary Lee and his family. He was born Ottice Edmond Spiers Jr., on November 26, 1940 in Yuma, Arizona, the son of Ottice and Atha Spence Spiers. He joined the US Army in 1957 and served until 1964 when he was honorably discharged. On August 4, 1985 in Albion, Idaho, Ed married Mary Lee Malberg, who he loved more than chocolate. Ed was very artistic. He owned a sign shop in Arizona and painted many signs around the Magic Valley, including all the signs at Skateland, the mural on the old OK Bar on Kimberly Road and many others. He drove bus for Grey Hound and many charter companies, retiring as bus driver for Trans Four though CSI. Ed also loved carpentry and nature. He was very active in assisting with the tagging, weighing and recording data for the Hummingbirds in the South Hills. After his retirement, Ed loved taking the long way home, making any trip a long adventure. He loved people and never knew a stranger. He could make the simple trip from Boise to Twin Falls an adventure that would take up to five hours. He loved geneology and was very knowledgeable on history and loved to share his knowledge with his family and anyone who would listen. He even built a flicker site - Magic Valley's Photo Stream, where he shared photos and history of the Magic Valley area. Surviving are his wife - Mary Lee Spiers of Hansen, children - Gene Eddy (Susan) Spiers, Leon Martin Spiers, Greggory Spiers, Sharon Caprice (Richard) Woodward,Leann (Keith) Amend, Pam Hoover, Tony (Lori)Davis, Teresa (Todd) Ballard, Tim (Sabrina Forest)Davis, brothers - Jesse Leonard Spiers, Robert Spiers and Teddy Tadlock, sisters - Shirley Clark and Barbara Homan, along with a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. A celebration of Ed's life will be held on Thursday, October 3, 2013 at 5:00 P.M. at Parke's Magic Valley Funeral Home Life Celebration Center, 2551 Kimberly Rd. in Twin Falls.
