James Robert" Sam" Samson, 1945 - 2013 James Robert" Sam" Samson, 67, of Twin Falls ID, passed away Wednesday, September 4, 2013 in Twin Falls, Idaho after courageously fighting cancer over the past few years. He was at his home surrounded by those he loved and whom loved him dearly. Sam was born December 15, 1945 in Elko, Nevada to Cecil Samson and Lucille Samson Chesnutt. His father Cecil passed away when he was a young boy, and his mother Lucille then married Jim Chesnutt who raised Sam. Sam attended school in Twin Falls and in 1979, he proudly graduated from the College of Southern ID with a Degree in Electronics. After graduating, he joined the US Army and was very proud to have served in the Vietnam War as part of the 117th airborne. Sam was a lifelong bartender and also spent about 4 years traveling with the carnival in his younger years. Sam was quite the tinker-man; he enjoyed working on and rebuilding computers and bicycles for his friends, and although colorblind, he was an amazing artist, and wood carver. Sam enjoyed playing pool and darts all his life, even while battling cancer. He spent as much time enjoying playing pool with his daughter and son-in-law right up until he could no longer walk around a pool table. He was a man that marched to the beat of his own drum, truly a happy go lucky, loving and giving man to so many. He will be missed. His father Cecil Samson, his step father and 1 brother preceded him in death. Surviving Sam is his mother, Lucille Chestnutt, 2 brothers, a sister, his children, Jody Pena, Mandy Hutchinson and a step son David (McCleve) Samson, 2 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. There will be a Celebration of Sam's Life Sunday, September 8, 2013 at 12:00 P.M. at the Pioneer Club 1519 Kimberly Road in Twin Falls, Idaho.
