Clifford Lee McCaslin 1931 - 2013 Clifford Lee McCaslin went to be with the Lord on August 31,2013, at the age of 82, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Cliff was the oldest of five children, born June 21, 1931 in Burley, Idaho to Max and Laverne McCaslin. He attended school in Burley and Twin Falls before his family began farming in Hazelton. In 1949, he graduated from Hazelton School where he met his beloved wife Charlyn (Charly). He and Charly married in 1951 and together raised 5 children of their own; Larry (Donna) McCaslin, Kimberly; Debbie (Kevin) Ciriniconi, Hazelton; Leslie (Randy)Dirickson, Blackfoot; Jeff(Beth) McCaslin, Athol; and Patty McCaslin, Twin Falls. Cliff was in the National Guard when our nation became dedicated to protecting South Korea from the spread of Communism, so he joined the Army and served our country in Germany throughout the Korean War. When he returned home to Charly, he began a career as a brick layer and enjoyed his work for a total of 44 years. He and his family lived in Twin Falls, Caldwell, and Las Vegas before returning to his hometown of Hazelton for his retirement. He and his wife Charly enjoyed golfing, fishing, and camping at Magic with friends and family. When his beloved wife went to be with the Lord on Thanksgiving Day 2001, Cliff s focus became serving others in his community and his church. He was a regular volunteer at the Hazelton Thrift Store and assisted in numerous renovation projects throughout the community. He was a member of Valley Presbyterian Church and had a great love for his friend and brother Pastor Kevin Anderson and so enjoyed his Wednesday Bible studies with his brothers, Doc and Pastor Kev. In May 2012, Cliff relocated to Kimberly, living with his eldest son "Red" McCaslin but kept his connection with his hometown by continuing to attend Valley Presbyerian and enjoying his "every Monday'' coffee times with his good friends Larry and Ruth Sellers and his sister and brother-in-law Marilyn and Don McBride. Cliff is survived by all of his children; one brother Glen (Doc) McCaslin, one sister Marilyn (Don) McBride; thirteen grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Norman McCaslin, one sister Nadine McCaslin, and his precious wife Charly. Grandpa Cliff will always be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor, his kindness and generosity, his loving concern for our country, and for the great love he had for his dog "Ben". The family would like to express sincere appreciation to Kathy Harman who was his "rock" and "very best friend" at the most critical time in his life; as well as Carl Spaulding, Sheri McCaughey, Michelle Nielson, all the Hospice Visions team that gave him comfort and dignity in his final days. Greater love hath no man and your service and dedication will never be forgotten. A memorial celebration of Cliff's life will be held at Valley Presbyterian Church in Hazelton on Friday, September 6,2013, at l1:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, Cliff requested donations be made on his behalf to Hospice Visions.
