Victor Carroll Fischer was born June 26, 1931 to Alex and Nora Fischer. He is survived by his wife Jean, five children Daniel, Michael (Kerry), Constance (Tom) Moore, Monica Leigh, Mona Zertuche, eight grandchildren, three great grandchildren and one brother Roddy (Pauline). He was preceded in death by his parents. Known to family and friends as Vic, he served in the US Army during the Korean War as an enlisted Corporal station on Okinawa. After becoming a civilian, he was later awarded the youngest and the only American to win the top ten Culinary Awards. Among many places, Vic was the chef of the Space Needle in Seattle, the El Tavar and Bright Angel in the Grand Canyon, the Strater Hotel in Durango and Hotel Boise. He came to Twin Falls in 1970, worked at the Black Whale and then opened the Tommyknocker restaurant in 1973 until he retired in 1985. Vic married the love of his life, Jean (Durfee) Fischer in 1983 and attended Bethel Temple Church for over 30 years. He was known as a Christian and friend to many people and will never be forgotten. Funeral service will be Friday, August 2, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. at Bethel Temple, 929 Hankins Rd. South in Twin Falls.
