David Allen Keaton

March 8, 1947 — July 7, 2013

On Sunday, July 7, 2013, David A. Keaton, age 66, of Buhl, Idaho, went home to be with his Heavenly Father. David was born in his parent's home in Slab Fork, WV on March 8, 1947. He was the oldest of six children born to Clinton and Dorothy Keaton. In 1950, David's family moved to Belton, MO. Upon graduation from high school, David enlisted in the Marine Corp where he faithfully served his country as a radio operator in Vietnam. After being honorably discharged from the Marines, David attended Rockmont Bible College in Denver, Colo. While there, he met Norma Jean Kuhlers, and they were married on August 17, 1973. In June of 1974, they moved to Buhl, Idaho, where David began delivering milk for Smith's Dairy. David was a member of Magic Valley Baptist Church and being burdened for Christian education, David and his father, Pastor Clinton R. Keaton, began Clear Lakes Christian Academy in 1978. David served faithfully in this ministry for more than 30 years until his retirement in 2013. David loved teaching and only retired due to poor health. David loved living in Idaho and enjoyed the many outdoor activities the state had to offer. David loved gardening, hunting, and camping with his family and friends. He especially enjoyed camping in the Copper Basin and showing family from out of state the joys of camping in Idaho. David enjoyed serving the Lord and was an active member at Magic Valley Baptist Church, serving as treasurer, bus driver, Sunday school teacher, and deacon in the church for many years. In 2012, David was diagnosed with a genetic form of cirrhosis of the liver. He courageously fought the disease, but the Lord chose to call him home. David is survived by his loving wife of almost 40 years; son, Robert Lynn (Angela) Keaton and their sons Kristopher and David of Romeoville, IL; daughter, Sharon (Edmund) Vincent of Levittown, PA; son, Phillip (Christina) Keaton of Bradley, IL; and daughter Pamela Keaton of Lewiston, ID; sister, Sue (Don) Haugen of Ankenny, IA; brother, Virgil (Rebecca) Keaton of West Plaines, MO; sister, Marilyn (Virgil) Vice of Boise, ID; and brother, Mark (Teri) Keaton of Twin Falls, ID. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clinton and Dorothy Keaton and an infant brother, Darryl Ray Keaton. David will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and the many students he taught. A funeral will be held at 10:00a.m. on Friday, July 12, at Magic Valley Baptist Church of Buhl, Idaho. Burial will follow at the Buhl cemetery. Those who wish may share memories and condolences on his memorial page at www.magicvalleyfunralhome.com. Arrangements are under the direction of Parke's Magic Valley Funeral Home of Twin Falls.
