Melvin Dean "Sam" Spence, 69, of Twin Falls, passed away at his home in Twin Falls on June 20, 2013. He was born on August 18, 1943 in Wendell, Idaho the son of Charles and Goldie Dean Spence. Due to his parents passing away at a young age, he was raised by his aunt and uncle - Leo "Red" and Eunice Spence. In 1961, he graduated from the Twin Falls High School. He then entered the US Air Force. In December of 1963 he married the love of his life Theresa Wahleithner. To this union were born four children. Sam loved to fish, hunt, camp and spend time with his family. He also enjoyed watching sports, especially the Seattle Mariners. Sam worked at various jobs in this life, but was forced to retire from truck driving when he lost the sight in his right eye. Surviving are his wife - Theresa Spence of Twin Falls, children - Lloyd (Linda) Spence of Boise, Leo Spence of Kimberly, Anita (Ron) Peterson of Twin Falls, and 13 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Special members that add to the family are Andre Brim and Jane Spence. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother - Lloyd and a daughter - Sophia, and grandson - Skylar. He will be deeply missed by all who know and loved him. A celebration of life services will be held on Saturday, June 29, 2013 from 1 - 5 pm at the Devon Senior Apartments, 1338 North College Road in Twin Falls.
