Bertha S. Haynes

March 29, 1925 — May 5, 2013

Bertha S. Rast Haynes completed her earthly journey in the early morning hours of May 5, 2013. Bertha was born March 29, 1925, to George and Christina Rast at Jerome, Idaho. She graduated from Wendell High School in 1943, moved to Twin Falls, and worked at Wilson-Bates. Bertha met Clifton Haynes at a dance at the Radio Rendezvous in Twin Falls, while he was home on leave from WWII. They were married in Phoenix, Arizona on June 9, 1945. Following Clifton's discharge, they returned to the Twin Falls area, and eventually moved into the former Bernard Stricker residence at the Stricker Ranch at Hansen. Bertha and Clifton lived at the ranch for 35 years, and were charter members of the Friends of Stricker. They purchased a home in Kimberly and later Twin Falls. They were married for 54 years at the time of Clifton's death in May, 1999. Bertha purchased her home on Whispering Pine Drive in Twin Falls following Clifton's death. Bertha is survived by daughter Marilyn Haynes-Brokopp, son-in-law Dr. Charles Brokopp of Madison Wisconsin, step grandsons Chris Brokopp (Aloha), of Centerburg, Ohio, Chad Brokopp of Zurich, Switzerland, two step great grandsons Caden and Cai Brokopp of Centerburg, Ohio, sister Christina Dunn of Jerome, Idaho, sister-in-law Shirley Puckett of Kimberly, Idaho, and many loving nieces and nephews. Bertha was preceded in death by her husband Clifton, son Robert, her parents, four brothers and two sisters. A very special thank you is extended to the staff from Hospice Visions who so lovingly cared for Bertha during her last hours. Memorial services will be held at a later this summer. A service notice will be placed at that time. In lieu of flowers, please make charitable contributions either to the Friends of Stricker, PO Box 2218, Twin Falls, ID 83301 or Visions Hospice, 1770 Parkview Dr, Twin Falls, ID 83301.
