Eldon Owens Durk Eldon died on April 6, 2013 at his home in Jerome. Eldon was born on January 12, 1918 in Hansen to Raymond and Gertrude Durk. He graduated from Hansen High School in 1934. Eldon married Claudie Merrell on September 24, 1953 in Twin Falls. They celebrated 50 years of marriage in Alaska in 2003. They would have celebrated 60 years of marriage this year. Eldon served his country during World War II and returned home to the family farm in Hansen. He farmed for many years at Hazelton with his brother, Max. He ended his career as manager of the Emmett Irrigation District (1968-1977). He returned to the Magic Valley in 1978, spending his retirement years in Jerome. Eldon loved to hunt and fish. He hung up his rifle at 80 after bagging an elk, deer and antelope that year. He then took up halibut fishing in Alaska. He retired his reel, at age 89. after bringing in a 100 pound halibut that year. Eldon loved to grow things. He had a rose garden and rows of produce. He loved to share the flowers and produce with everyone he met. Eldon was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Max and Edwin and son Raymond. He is survived by his wife, Claudie and children Harold (Nancy) of Reno and Cheryle (Dennis) of Twin Falls. Services will be held on Friday, April 12, 2013 at 2:00 PM at Parke's Magic Valley Funeral Home 2551 Kimberly Rd, Twin Falls, wit burial following at the Twin Falls Cemetery.
