Glenn Neilson, 89 of Jackson, Idaho died Friday, April 5, 2013 at his home. Glenn was born March 12, 1924 in Jackson, Idaho; the son of Henry and Merab Lee Neilson. Glenn or "Grandpa Glenn" or "Uncle Glenn", as he was known depending on who you were, spent his entire life in the Jackson area. In 1946, Glenn married Irene Giraud. Through this marriage they had three sons, Steve, Sterling, Scott and one daughter Sally Neilson. This marriage later ended in divorce. In 1985, Glenn married Winnie Bodenhoser. He farmed all his life in Jackson where he resided. Glenn grew the largest pumpkins in the Jackson area. He proudly displayed the pumpkins at the Skyline Bar and at the entrance to "Neilson Country". Glenn had a passion for fishing. Glenn would take any opportunity to drive to Sublet and fish for trout. Grandpa Glenn so enjoyed spending time with his beloved great grandchildren and watching them play on the river at "Neilson Country". Glenn could captivate an audience with his stories and although we were not done listening to him, Glenn's body had grown weary. All who knew Glenn, knew that he lived life on his terms. Glenn was preceded in death by his parents; wife Winnie; brothers Ernest (Jane) Neilson, Donald Neilson; sisters Joy (Harrold) Roemer, Tiny (Emmet) Palmer, Ruth Neilson; and his son Scott Neilson. Glenn is survived by his two sons Steve (Marcy) and Sterling (Christy); and daughter Sally. One sister Katherine (Art) Adamson and special nieces Faye Walton and Monica Hackenberg. His grandchildren; Erik (Erinn) Neilson, Inga (Ron) Elkin, Hiedi (Brent) Skaggs, Britney Neilson Layher, Duff (Petra) Wagnon, Cody (Kassandra) Neilson, Gretchen Neilson Moser, John Henry Neilson, and Shanda (Joseph) Courtwright. Numerous great grandchildren and his faithful cat Tiger. A celebration of Glenn's life will held at "Neilson Country" 1350 E. 950 N. Jackson, ID on May 18, 2013 from 2pm-4pm.
