Gertrude McKinley Garey Ellis Our beloved Mom and Grandma passed away peacefully Sunday, November 25 with her loving husband and family by her side. Gertie was born August 28, 1921 in Filer, Idaho to Clinton and Emma McKinley. She was raised in Filer, Idaho where she met Earl Garey. The two were married on October 31, 1937. To this loving union of over 50 years, four children were born. Gertie worked with her husband for many years in carpentry and designed all of the house blueprints. She was Earl's secretary and right hand man. Together they built many custom homes in the Filer and the Twin Falls areas. Gertie had a warm and vivacious personality that made her a natural in her positions working for the Kmart and Magic Valley Memorial Hospital deli counters. Gertie loved to garden, sew, and raise flowers. She loved watching Boise State football games and was an avid supporter. After Earls' death, she met Robert Ellis Sr. at the Twin Falls Senior Citizen Center. She and Bob were active members of the Senior Center where they treasured their many years of dancing, poker games, and socializing. Gertie is survived by her husband, Bob of Twin Falls; a daughter, Judy Parker (George) of Twin Falls; two sons, Ray Garey (Melinda) of Jerome and Loyd Garey (Marge) of Twin Falls; a sister, Katherine Lively (Twin Falls); daughter in law, Kathy Garey (Boise) and multiple generations of grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Ron Garey, her brother John D. McKinley, and by her parents. Gertie lived her life to the fullest with a smile and joke for everyone she blessed . let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. (Heb. 12:1) She will be in our hearts forever. The family suggests in lieu of flowers a memorial contribution be given to the Twin Falls Senior Citizens Center.
