Michael Vern Owens

October 20, 1953 — September 4, 2012

Michael Vern Owens, 58, of Twin Falls went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at his home after a nine month battle with cancer. Michael was born October 20, 1953 in Twin Falls, Idaho to Dottie and Walter Austin, the last of three children. After their marriage came to an end, Dottie went on to marry Leonard Owens who then adopted Michael. He graduated from Twin Falls High School in 1971. He then went on to marry his high school sweetheart, Blaineda, in June of 1972 just before enlisting in the United States Navy. After Michael was honorably discharged from the Navy in 1974, he returned to Twin Falls to build a life with his wifea life and union that lasted more than 36 years until her death in 2009. Together he and Blaineda had three sons, Michael Saul, Brad Lee, and Howard Scott. Michael received his electrical license in 1977 after completing an apprentice program with his father, Leonard who owned his own electrical business. Michael worked as an electrician for a number of different companies with the most recent being Argus Electric where he worked as a journeyman electrician for the past 12 years. Michael took great pride in his work and was a very diligent worker. Michael had a love for the outdoors and for riding motorcycles. He and Blaineda enjoyed many camping trips with their boys where Michael taught his sons how to ride motorcycles and how to pee like men. Michael was a member of the Magic Valley Trail Association and enjoyed going on the state rides with Blaineda after their boys had grown. The two always looked forward to camping adventures. In Addition to the love for the outdoors, Michael was also an avid auction go-er where he repeatedly validated the saying one man's junk is another man's treasure.' He and Blaineda could always be found at the auction on any given Saturday. Michael was also a proud grandpa and loved watching his four grandkids grow. After Blaineda's death in 2009, Michael began attending church for the first time in his life at Amazing Grace Fellowship with his son Brad and his daughter-in-law Ashley. Michael accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior and was baptized in 2009. His family has taken great comfort knowing that Michael was saved and therefore went to Heaven. Michael is survived by his three sons Michael, Brad (Ashley), and Howard (Heather); his two granddaughters Aunica and Kemorale and twin grandsons Phoenix and Japheth. He is also survived by his sisters Gloria, Barbra, Sharla (Rocky), and Della. Michael was preceded in death by his wife, Blaineda, his sister Bonnie, and his parents. A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 7, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Amazing Grace Fellowship in Twin Falls with Pastor Rob Heidemann officiating. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Amazing Grace Fellowship 1061 Eastland Drive North, Twin Falls, Idaho 83301. Those who wish may share memorial memories at www.magicvalleyfuneralhome.com. Arrangements are under the direction of Parke's Magic Valley Funeral Home of Twin Falls.
