Dennis Lee Bokma, 52 of Wendell formally of Elko Nevada, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on July 15, 2012 at St. Luke's Magic Valley Regional Medical Center in Twin Falls, Idaho surrounded by his loving family. He had a long hard fight with scleroderma, but he never gave up to the very end. Dennis was born in Upland, California to Sam and Antoinette (Toni) Bokma on Sept 2 1959. He joined his little family as the second born after his brother Steve. He was soon followed by his sister Joan and his brother Alan. He was raised on a family dairy in Chino, California until his family moved to Pomona, California, where he attended a Baptist school. Dennis loved talking about his youth and he learned from a young age to work hard to help his family. When Dennis was in the 7th grade, his family moved to Wendell, Idaho where he attended high school. Here he spent some of the of the happiest times of his life. He worked and trained to be a butcher at Marlows Meat Market and Parr's Lockers. In 1979, he and his best friend, Don Moore signed up for the army and served 3 years in Furst, Germany. After his discharge, he returned to Idaho. Dennis moved to Elko where he did masonry work for Lund masonry and Gary's masonry. In 1988 he started working at Newmont mining as a laborer where he worked very hard and was promoted to control room operator and later control room supervisor. Dennis continued to work there until he became disabled in 2009. On Nov 30th 1989, Dennis married his soul mate, Evelyn Sue Hansen in Elko NV. They had a beautiful daughter, Ashley, in1991. Dennis and Evelyn made their home in Elko for 20 years. Dennis loved to garden, cook, camp, fish but his greatest joy was being with his family and friends. In November 2009 the family moved to Wendell where Dennis found great comfort to be back in a place full of such happy memories and be surrounded by his loving family and friends. In Wendell he made a wonderful home where he continued to garden and fish and he slowly acquired the workshop of his dreams. He spent countless hours building beautiful items for loved ones. Dennis is survived by his wife Evelyn of 22 years and his 5 children, Ashley of Twin Falls, Kandi of Michigan, Kristina of Pocatello, Kimberly of Gooding and Spencer of Emmett.
