Donna Labrum

February 16, 1925 — June 19, 2012

Donna Labrum 1925 - 2012 Wife, mother-two very small words to describe a large and generous soul who has left us. Donna Labrum of Twin Falls, passed away on June 19, 2012 at the St. Luke's Medical Center due to complications from cancer. She was 87 and the youngest of eight children born to Rudolf and Clara Frances Schwendiman. She grew up on a farm in Newdale, ID during the Great Depression and her great passions were horses, dolls and her family. Her greatest pride were her four children: Ren, Marcene, Wayne and Kevin. She never missed an opportunity to tell them how much they were loved and how incredibly proud she was to be their mother. She was a generous and loyal friend who took great joy in just spending time talking with people. She was never too busy to lend a hand, an ear or a shoulder to anyone in need. She leaves behind a legacy of friends who will remember her as much for her hugs as for her kind and loving personality. While her first and most important job was the raising of her children, she worked outside the home as well. During WWII, she worked in a factory in Ogden, UT, dismantling, cleaning and reassembling guns for the War effort. When the War ended, she returned to Eastern Idaho and on February 6, 1946, married Donald D. Labrum in the Idaho Falls temple. They lived in the Eastern Idaho area and had their first child, Donald Ren. They, then settled in the Twin Falls area where Marcene, Wayne and Kevin were born. She began working the night shift at Universal Frozen Foods so that she could be home in the afternoons and evenings for her children. She worked there for over 20 years on the potato spec line and eventually retired to enjoy time with friends and family. Donna was a deeply devoted member of the LDS church. She lived and breathed the principles she learned there and worked to pass on faith to others by setting an example. She held many positions in the church but her last and favorite was as the ward librarian. Her faith was a great comfort to her. She is survived by her children, Ren (Pat) Labrum of Twin Falls, Marcene (Lee) Sievers of Glenns Ferry, Wayne (Carolyn) Labrum of Boise, and Kevin (Kim) Labrum of Boise; her grandchildren: Brenda, James, Marylee, Kathy, Frances, Nicole, Michael, Allisha, Daniel, and Ashley; numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; as well as four of her siblings: Reed Schwendiman of Washington, Wayne (Verla) Schwendiman of Washington, Melvin Schwendiman of Newdale, ID and Lucile Osborn of Rexburg, ID. She was preceded in death by her husband Donald Labrum (2007); her parents, Rudolf (1955) and Clara Frances Schwendiman (1963); three of her siblings, Madeline, Clara May and Elmer Schwendiman; and one granddaughter, Kaitlin Sievers (1989). Funeral Services for Donna will be held on Friday, June 22, at 2:00 pm. at the Maurice Street Stake Center, 421 Maurice Street, Twin Falls with Graveside services for the family, immediately following at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery.
