Melvin Clifford Jennings 1925-2012 Melvin Clifford Jennings, age 86 of Twin Falls, Idaho passed away Saturday, June 2, 2012 at St. Luke's Magic Valley Regional Medical Center Twin, Falls Idaho. Melvin was born September 3, 1925 in Jerome, Idaho to parents, Herschel C. And Nelda (Schaffer) Jennings. He grew up and attended schools in Jerome and Twin Falls and after graduation, enlisted in the United States Navy. He served in World War II from 1943 to 1946 where he was stationed on the USS Pennsylvania, and after being honorably discharged married the love of his life Joyce Cox on June 22, 1946 in Twin Falls, Idaho. It wasn't long before they welcomed the first of four children into their union. Carolyne, Delores, Larry and Brenda were all their father's pride and joy. When the children were growing up, Melvin worked for Green's Fish Hatchery, and then took a job at Idaho Hide and Tallow, where he served 25 years as manager. Melvin then worked for Gem Linen Supply for 15 years and it was from here that he retired. Melvin was a hard worker and he never took the easy way. He had his own philosophies of life and his family were regularly blessed with his "Melvin-isms". He loved to read and he loved Westerns, and Louis l'Amour was a favorite author. He was the perfect father and grandfather because he was big into the Kids. He was always there for them and he loved to take them camping and fishing. The family recalls that nearly every weekend he and Joyce would take the Camp Trailer up to the South Hills for some fun, and if they were really feeling adventurous, they would go to Stanley, Idaho to Tory's Cabins. Melvin believed in his own set of rules and he was always very fair, but he could be quite stern. He knew to raise kids you had to love them and you had to discipline them. But all the kids loved him in their own way. Melvin is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Joyce Jennings of Twin Falls, daughters, Carolyne Jennings of Twin Falls, Delores (Jim) Eiselein of Hansen, Idaho, and Brenda (Chris) Cothary of Bonney Lake, Washington; son, Larry Jennings of Twin Falls, ID. Also surviving are his Grandkids, Christy, Tracy, Tawyna, Mike, Jocelyn, and Allison; & Great Grandkids, Misty, Ryan, Kacie, Bradley, Nicholas, Marica, Emma, & Ethan, and Great Great Grandkids, Logan, Roland, Erica, Sidney and Andrew. His parents, three sisters and one brother preceded him in death. There will be an Open House held at the family home at a later time Cremation and inurnment are under the direction of Parke's Magic Valley Funeral Home of Twin Falls, Idaho.
