Virgil William Champlin November 21, 1931-May 17, 2012 TWIN FALLS Virgil William Champlin, 80, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, May 17, 2012 at his home. He was a man with tremendous patience, love, and an amazing sense of humor. He will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew him. Virgil was born in Twin Falls, Idaho, on November 21, 1931, to George and Velma Champlin. He attended school in Twin Falls and graduated from Twin Falls High School in 1949. He was in the Army from 1953-1955 and was stationed at Fort Lewis, Washington. On October 26, 1951, he married Irene Luella Burns at the First Baptist Church. They were blessed to have two daughters, Karen and Iris. Virgil worked at Roger Brothers Seed Company for 42 years as a field man and quality control manager. He was Manager/Secretary Treasurer for South Central Idaho Bacterial Blight Control Association. Virgil was also a member of Twin Falls American Legion Auxiliary. He was an avid bowler for many years and was a member of several Pinochle clubs. His real love was the outdoors and he enjoyed camping, fishing, and hunting and teaching his grandkids to love the outdoors as well. After retirement, Virgil began to have multiple health problems that slowed him down, but he never lost his sense of humor or positive attitude about life. He was always willing to lend a helping hand and never knew a stranger. Virgil is survived by his wife of 60 years, Luella, and sister, Georgine Parmeter of Utah; daughters Karen (Les) Poe of Twin Falls and Iris Hawkins of Twin Falls; Grandchildren, Brad (Kate) Poe of Brookings, SD, Stefanie Toews of Twin Falls, Alexis Hawkins of Kimberly, and Sarah Hawkins of Twin Falls; and Great-grandchildren, Delilah Toews, Henry and Emily Poe. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. at Parke's Magic Valley Funeral Home 2551 Kimberly Road, Twin Falls, on Tuesday, May 22, 2012. Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wed, May 23, at Parke's Magic Valley Funeral Home and the service will be officiated by Pastor Brian Vriesman; The Magic Valley Veteran's and Auxiliary will provide military rites and burial will follow at Twin Falls Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be given to Davita Dialysis Center. All services and arrangements are under the direction of the Parke's Magic Valley Funeral Home of Twin Falls, Idaho.
