Steven Allen Taylor

June 27, 1954 — May 12, 2012

Steven Allen Taylor, 57 of Twin Falls, Idaho went home to be with his Savior on, Saturday May 12, 2012. He passed away in his home, surrounded by family and friends, after a year and a half battle with Pancreatic Cancer. Steve was born on June 27, 1954 in Pasco, Washington to James and Mildred Taylor. His family moved to Renton, Washington when he was 10 years old. He graduated from Renton High School in 1972. After attending Northwest College in Kirkland Washington he, worked as a porter for Amtrak, traveled across the United States as a sound man for pianist, Dino Karsonakis and worked in the accounting department for Pacific Northwest Bell. While he was working for the phone company, Steve was a young adult leader in his church. That is where he met and married Alice Crowder of American Falls Idaho. They wed on August 6, 1982 in Redmond Washington. Steve then returned to Northwest College to finish his studies and received his BA in Pastorial Ministries. Over the next 20 years he pastored in, Seattle, Washington, Malin, Oregon, San Diego, California and Gooding, Idaho. Steve was blessed to have the opportunity to travel around the world doing missions work. He visited Tijuana, the Philippines, the Marshall Islands and Panama. His travels also took him to Israel and Japan. After serving the Lord from the pulpit for over 20 years Steve went on to obtained a certification in alcohol and drug counseling. Steve spent the last 10 years working as a counselor at the Walker Center in Gooding and Twin Falls, Idaho. Steve moved his family to Twin Falls in 2008 where they had been worshiping at Amazing Grace Fellowship. Here is where Steve and his family continued to serve in lay ministry. Steve is survived by Alice, his loving wife of 30 years, his children, Laura Taylor, Nathan Taylor and fiancée Becca Stonemets, Marilla Rinard and husband Zachary Rinard. He is also survived by his mother Mildred Taylor, his brothers, Dennis Taylor (Marilyn Perks) Taylor, James (Kumiko) Taylor and Darrell (Marjie) Taylor. Steve had a genuine passion for life. He adored his children almost as much as he adored his wife and was never afraid to tell them. He loved to laugh and played plenty of pranks throughout his life. He would rewind a vomit scene in a movie two or three times just to watch your reaction, laughing harder every time. That was okay though, because he also rewound the end of Sense and Sensibility and pretended not to get misty-eyed every time. He loved food and some will argue that his spaghetti was the best in the world. Most importantly Steve had a heart for people. He spent his adult life pouring into others and never gave up on anyone. It was his love for Jesus that made him so passionate and it spoke volumes about what a true walk of faith should look like. After being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, Steve made a vow to be open and honest no matter what happened and to allow God to use him even in what should have been the darkest hours of his life. It was just days after being diagnosed, that he said he'd never felt so blessed to have such great friends and family, an amazing church and prayers pouring in from all over the world. He never once complained or asked "Why me?" He knew he was blessed, adopting his father in-laws saying, "God has been unusually good to me." His spirit will live on through those who knew and loved him. Services will be held on, Thursday, May 17, 2012 at Amazing Grace Fellowship in Twin Falls, Idaho at 4pm All donations can be made through: Amazing Grace Fellowship 1061 Eastland Dr. North Twin Falls Idaho, 83301
