Jackie "Jack" Eugene Self, 77, of Kimberly, passed away May 4, 2012 at St. Luke's Magic Valley Regional Medical Center in Twin Falls. He was born on September 18, 1934 in Flint, Oklahoma the son of John M. and Minnie Winchester Self. At the age of three his family moved to Idaho. He graduated from Kimberly High School in 1952. On October 2, 1953 he married the love of his life Jeanne Watson. To this union were born three children. Jack worked for Gott Farms in Eden. He loved to move dirt, every spring his wife remembers him getting "Tractor Fever", longing to be outside working with the soil. Jack also loved to fish and camp, and enjoyed being a snow bird, traveling to Arizona in the winters. He never knew a stranger, taking every opportunity possible to visit with friends and acquaintances. Surviving are his wife - Jeanne of Kimberly, daughters - Marcella Self of Fresno, CA, Kelly Weeks of Kimberly, son - Scott (Terisa) Self of Deweyville, UT, brother - Richard Self of Hollister, sister - Colleen Wood of Scottsdale, AZ, five grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother - Leon Self, and one sister - Betty Covert. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. The family requests memorials be made in his name to the American Cancer Society. At his request no services will be held.
