H. E. Singley Jr., of Twin Falls, went to be with his Lord & Savior Jesus Christ on April 16, 2012 at the age of 99. He was born on November 5, 1912 in Wellington, Texas and graduated from Lubbock High School in 1930. He then attended Texas Tech College in 1931 as a pre-law major but had to withdraw and work on the family farm because of the Great Depression. In 1940, he was drafted into the Cavalry where he served for 18 months. On December 17, 1941, shortly after the attack on Pearl Harbor, he enlisted in the US Army Air Corps, serving in the European theater for the duration of World War II. After receiving an honorable discharge, he returned to Lubbock, Texas and met Gertrude Myers whom he married in 1948. He worked with his father, H.E. Singley, Sr., in a family business, Singley Farm Machinery. In 1950, H. E. Jr., Gertrude and ther infant son moved bo a ranch near Weatherford, Texas. In 1953, H.E. became a salesman for Snap-On Tools Corporation, living first in Azle, Texas and eventually in Fort Worth. He received numerous sales achievement awards from Snap-On. He retired in 1975 and remained active in lay ministry in the church well into his 80's. In 1998, H. E. and Gertrude moved to Twin Falls to be near their daughter and her family. H. E. was a lifelong follower of The Lord Jesus and consistently encouraged people he met along life's way to commit their lives to Christ. Surviving H. E. are his children, son H. E. Singley III and his wife Noretta of Wheaton, Illinois, and daughter Suzanne Marie Singley Philips and her husband Bill of Twin Falls, along with seven grandchildren, five great- grandchildren and four step great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of more than 52 years, three sisters and one brother. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Graveside services will be held on Friday, April 20, 2012 at the Twin Falls Cemetery at 4:00 P.M. with military honors offered by the Magic Valley Honor Guard. Arrangements are under the caring direction of Parke's Magic Valley Funeral Home of Twin Falls. A memorial celebration of his life will be held later at Parke's Magic Valley Funeral Home. A service notice will appear prior to that service.
