Leona May Hankins, 86, of Twin Falls, passed away March 29, 2012 at the River Ridge Care Center in Twin Falls. She was born June 29, 1925 in Bingham, Utah; the daughter of Michael and Elmira Cullinan. She graduated from Twin Falls High School in 1943. On March 30, 1944 she married the love of her life Duane Hankins. To this union were born three children. Duane and Leona shared many talents, including square dancing, camping, hunting, fishing and being in the outdoors. Leona loved to quilt, and oil paint. She shared her talents with others helping to teach quilting and painting. She loved the outdoors, gardening, digging for marbles and rock for her collection. She was an avid bowler who was inducted into the Women's Bowling Hall of Fame. She was a devoted mother and community servant, serving in the campfire girls as a leader and officer and also in the cub scouts. The highlight of her life was spoiling her grandchildren. She is survived daughter - Carmen Van Zante of Twin Falls, son - Michael Hankins of Filer, son - W. Dick Hankins of Sparks, Nevada, five grandchildren, along with numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Duane, one brother Phillip Cullinan and one granddaughter Emily Ruth Hankins. She will deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, April 3, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. at Parke's Magic Valley Funeral Home, 2551 Kimberly Rd., Twin Falls.
