Loah Lee Fancher Allred 1934 - 2012 Loah Lee Fancher Allred, 77, passed away Tuesday, March 20, 2012 , at St Lukes Hospital, with her family at her side, after a valiant fight with Multiple Myeloma Cancer. Loah was born May 14, 1934, in Kimberly to Albert and Juanita Fancher. The Fancher family moved throughout Magic Valley during the depression and worked as farmers. Loah and her sister, Shirley (Gorrell) attended schools at Kimberly, and Bickel in Twin, Falls, Eden, Russell Lane, Moroa, Tuttle and Gooding. After her father's death in 1947, Loah and her mother moved to Boise, where she boarded and finished high school at St. Teresa's Academy. She attended college for a year and half at Idaho State College in Pocatello. During one of her Christmas breaks, she went to Sun Valley and loved it so much and enjoyed watching the celebrities that she went to work there and never returned to school. She returned to Boise with her mother, where in the spring of 1955 she met Joe Allred at Murray's Drive Inn, which led to their marriage on September 3 of that same year. They raised a son and 4 daughters before moving to Teton Valley in 1973. In 1978, the family built a cedar log house in Alta, Wyo., where they lived for 22 years. She worked at Grand Targhee Ski Resort, for a few years and in the meantime they became restaurateurs' in Driggs. The Cedar Tree Restaurant and Tavern later became Joe's Place and provided many wonderful meals and memories for friends and family over the next 25 years. They sold the restaurant in 1999 and retired but stayed one more winter to ski and shovel snow. They moved to the Pleasant Valley Golf Course community south of Kimberly to be near her mother Juanita Gilmore for the last few years of her life. Loah worked in the club house until she got cancer in mid 2008. Her treatment at the Huntsman Cancer Institute and Mountain States Tumor Institute (MSTI) involved multiple stem cell transplants and many treatments over the past four years. She loved both downhill and cross country skiing. She was a gourmet chef of epic proportions and loved to entertain all who came to their home or restaurant. She was able to travel throughout much of Europe which was a dream come true. Her yard and gardens were a works of art when they were tended to by her loving hands. Her creative talents included painting, producing fabulous pieces of stained glass and sewing many treasures over the years for friends and family.
