Russell Alger Arnold Jr., 93 of Gooding, passed away March 6, 2012 at the North Canyon Medical Center in Gooding. He was born September 2, 1918 in Harrisburg, PA the son of Russell A. Arnold Sr. and Jennie May Kepler Arnold. He served in the US Army during World War II. Upon returning from the service he went to work for the Pennsylvania Railroad, retiring from Conrail as an engineer in 1981. Russell was a member of the Shoshone American Legion and he enjoyed fishing and golf. Russell was greatly devoted to golf, he caddied as a youngster and even played 18 holes on the day of his passing. He had the accomplishment five holes in one with two of those after the age of 90. On November 11, 1943 he married Nieves Berriochea. To this union were born three children - Robert, Edward and Katherine. Nieves passed away in 1987. On April 25, 2008 he married Tana Buller. She fulfilled the later years of his life with love and companionship. Russell is survived by his wife Tana Arnold of Gooding, sons - Robert (Rose) Arnold of Louisville, OH, Edward Arnold of Wendell, brothers - Harold (Joyce) Arnold of Harrisburg, PA and Clarence Arnold of Oakland, FL, nine grandchildren, , and 19 great grandchildren three step great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Neives, daughter Katherine Clayton, one brother - Kenneth and three sisters - Emma, Mildred, and Betty. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Inurnment will be held on May 4, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at the Shoshone Cemetery in Shoshone. A service of remembrance will be on May 4, 2012 at 11:30 a.m. at Parke's Magic Valley Funeral Home, Wendell - Gooding Chapel.
