Dorthy Arlene Humphrey Porter was born on January 27, 1929 at Lusk, Wyoming, to Charles Humphrey and Verna Baars Humphrey. She attended school for 10 years at Node, Wyoming and graduated from High School at Lusk, Wyoming in 1942. Dorthy was very active in 4-H for seven years and in 1947 won a free trip to the National 4-H Club Congress in Chicago, Illinois. On April 3, 1949 she was united in marriage to Carl Hardman Porter at St Paul's Lutheran church in Lusk. There were four children born to this union. Dorthy and Carl divorced after 23 years of marriage. Music was a very important part of Dorthy and her children's life and they sang in the various churches they attended. Dorthy worked mostly in an office having worked for an Attorney, for Mountain States Telephone Co., and in Kimberly as the Site Manager of the Ageless Senior Citizens Center for eighteen years. Dorthy was a "born again" Christian and attended the Airport Road Free Will Baptist Church in Twin Falls where she was the organist for many years. She later moved to Jerome in 2003 and attended the Jerome Free Will Baptist Church until shortly before her death. She is survived by her children, Duane (Nancy) Porter, Mike Porter, Anne (Gerald) Chojnacky, and Carol Porter, seven grandchildren and ten great- grandchildren. There will be a Celebration of her life on Monday, January 9th 2012, at Heritage Alliance Church, 401 6th Avenue North (comer of Eden Street N and 6th Avenue N) in Twin Falls.
