George B. Shindurling passed away December 26, 2011 at River Ridge Care Center. George was unable to recover from a broken hip that occurred on November 22, 2011. George was born the eldest son to Ruth Amber Bransteiter and George Francis Shindurling on October 2, 1917 in Mackay, Idaho. George attended school in Mackey, St. Anthony and graduated from Blackfoot High School in 1935. He enlisted in the Blackfoot Idaho National Guard, August 1, 1940 and was called to active duty on September 16, 1940 at Tent City Murray, Washington and then moved to Fort Lewis. On April 22, 1942 he was shipped to Melbourne Australia Military camp. On January 20, 1943 he was shipped from New Guinea to the Philippines. George returned to San Francisco where he was promoted to 1st Sergeant and was honorable discharged in 1946. After returning home George married Anna Gossi on June 30, 1946 in Blackfoot, Idaho. They made their home on the East Fork of the Salmon River ranching with Ann's folks, Fred and Rosie Gossi. They resided on the ranch until 1968 when they sold the ranch and moved to Salmon, Idaho. George went into the Real-Estate business in Salmon until 1973, he then moved himself and Anna to Iona, Idaho in 1973, where George continued in the real-estate business until he retired. In 1988 they returned to the East Fork and then in October of 2004 they moved to Kimberly and made their home with Howard and Gloria Harder until Anna's death in January 2005. We wish to thank all the staff at Heritage for making a happy and content home for George the last five years. He cared deeply for his house keepers and the wonderful meals provided by the kitchen staff. A Big thanks to the staff at River Ridge for the tender love and care provided to George. George was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, his parents; in-laws; two brothers; one sister and his sister-in-law, Donna Shindurling. He also was preceded by a niece. He is survived by a special niece Karen (Jerry Gay) of Shelly, Idaho and 5 nephews. At George's request private family service with Military Honors were held. Memorials can be made to a donor's choice on behalf of George. Arrangements are under the direction of Parke's Magic Valley Funeral Home of Twin Falls, Idaho.
