Ruth R. Johnson, 89, of Castleford, passed away December 23, 2011 at the River Rock Assisted Living Center in Buhl. She was born on December 29, 1921, in Palms, California, the daughter of George and Bessie Pennington Ripley. On August 29, 1947 she married Lynn Johnson in Kenmore, Washington. She and Lynn moved from Missouri to Castleford where they farmed for over fifty years. In addition to farming, she worked for the Community Action Agency. This was a job she loved very much. Ruth enjoyed helping people and made life long friends. Following the passing of her husband on September 2, 1995, Ruth returned to school and achieved her CNA at the age of 72. She then went on to open her own in home care business, "Personal Connections & Naturally Wonderful Herbs". Natural healing was another of her life's passions. She ran her business until ill health forced the sale in 2008. Through her compassion for others and her businesses she made many lasting friendships. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Surviving are her children - David (Alice) Thorup of Gamult, France, Cathy (Rod) McKay of Jerome, Susan (Lee) Harvey of Castleford; grandchildren - Erik (Mari) Scott, Adrianne (Steve) Goff, Nicholas McKay; great grandchildren - Andrew Casey, and Caitlynn Scott. She was preceded in death by her husband - Lynn V. Johnson, her parents and six siblings. A service of remembrance will be held on January 21, 2012 at 11 AM at the Eight Street Center, 200 8th Ave. North in Buhl, Idaho.
