Gladyce Arlene Kime, 85 of Shoshone, died peacefully on December 12, 2011. She had been stricken by Alzheimer's disease for many years, and can now finally be at peace. She was born July 21, 1926, in Mullen, Nebraska, to Benjamin and Elsie Eivins. A few years later the family moved to Amherst, Nebraska, where she attended school for several years. The family returned to Mullen and her schooling continued there where she graduated from high school. She taught rural school, worked as a telephone operator and was employed by Johnson Mercantile for several years. Gladyce married John Simon on December 18, 1948. They had three children, Michael, Barbara and Lorie. John was employed by the Bureau of Reclamation, and they lived in many communities, eventually settling in Buena Vista, Colorado. John passed away in January 1972. In December 1973, Gladyce married Alan Kime. She moved to Nebraska where Alan operated a 25,000 acre ranch in the Sandhills. They eventually moved to Shoshone, Idaho, where they operated a cattle ranch until 1992. They sold the ranch and retired to a small acreage in Wendell, where they were able to enjoy their children and watch their grandchildren grow. Many happy memories were made there with our family.
