Edward Ginder

March 4, 1918 — November 18, 2011

Edward V. Ginder 1918-2011 Edward V. Ginder 93, died peacefully in his sleep on Friday November 18, 2011 at his home with loved ones by his side. Ed was born March 4, 1918 in Western Kansas. He attended and graduated from high school in a class of 6 students. Times were hard in Kansas and he survived the Depression and Dust Bowl. Ed met and married Dorothy May Mathis and moved to Idaho after the war with several friends. After working for continental Oil in Kansas, he farmed 1 year in Idaho, then started drilling water wells, many wells are still in service in Hansen, Murtaugh and Golden Valley. In the early 1960's Ed worked for Layne Pumps helping with the Major Bell Rapid project and at a Winnemucca Farm in Nevada setting pumps. He helped build the first Electric Generating Turbine pump and the first portable welder. After an industrial accident, Ed worked for Gail Staley at Layne and Bowler pumps and Worthington pumps, he then retired from working but never was still. Ed loved to fish & hunt, but his first love was baseball, the backstops at Kimberly City Park were built by Ed and a number of the fathers of the other little league players. Dad passed his love of baseball onto his children, resulting with Craig building the backstops behind the Kimberly Middle School with the help of another group of former little league players. After Mom's passing and Willa Eller's loss of her husband, Russ, Ed and Willa got together and spent the last 13 years with each other, through the good times and the bad times. Besides Willa surviving him, he leaves 3 children, Dianna (Ralph) Kruger, Tom (Lynn) Ginder, Craig (Debbie) Ginder, 7 grand children, Kim, Tim (who came and saw their granddad before his passing), Matt, Marty, Mark, Teresa, Bryan and great grand children and great- great grand children. Along with special friends who considered him a mentor and father figure; Steve Johnson, Steve Kernin, Ron Harney, Don Lancaster and Claude Dallas, who visited several times. There was also Willa's family, Gary, Russ, Rocky and their families. He is preceded by his parents, grandmother aunt Nola, Dorothy and infant son and many other family members. He could still remember friends from long ago. Some people will be left out of this list, this is unintentional. Special thanks to his Dr's, Dr. Desmond (who called Ed the miracle man), Dr. Mogelson, Dr. Brown, Dr. Kraal in ER, nurses Leslie, Deana, Shawna, St. Luke's Hospice, Travis and Rick. We appreciate the care he was given. There will be no services per Ed's wishes. His ashes will be taken to Kansas to be interned beside his family in the Budda Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Ed's name to Kimberly youth baseball. Arrangements are by Parke's Magic Valley Funeral Home of Twin Falls, Idaho.
