John W. Cummins John William Cummins, 83, of Cocoa, Fl, formerly of Twin Falls, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 17, 2011 in Cocoa, Fl. He was born March 4, 1928 in Massac County, IL to Robert Logan and Outha Mabel Harris Cummins, the 3rd oldest of 5 siblings. Mr. Cummins attended McKendree College in Lebanon, IL, an affiliate of the United Methodist Church. He later attended Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary on the campus of Northwestern University in Evanston, IL, where he earned his Master of Divinity. Prior to attending Garrett Theological, Mr. Cummins served in the U.S. Air Force as an air traffic controller, with time spent at Scott AFB near Belleville, IL. Mr. Cummins spent most of his full-time career as a minister for the United Methodist Church, Illinois Great Rivers Conference in Southern Illinios. He later worked in the financial services industry, and upon retirement, spent most of his time volunteering and working part-time for several churches in Idaho and Florida. He served as interim pastor at Valley Christian Church in Twin Falls during 2000 and as a volunteer Chaplin at St. Luke's and Hospice Visions. He most recently served as visitation pastor at the First United Methodist Church of Cocoa Florida. Growing up in his hometown of Metropolis, IL he attended First Methodist Church where his father was a member for 66 years. In those days, his family and friends affectionately knew him as "Johnny Bill". He is survived by his wife of 7 years, Delice Cummins; his daughter Cindy (Kent) Collins of Twin Falls, ID; a son J. Michael (Diana) Cummins of Orlando, FL; a son Tony (Lucinda) Cummins of Dallas, TX; a brother Jerry (Susan) Cummins of Chicago, IL. Surviving grandchildren are Kirk and Amy Houser, sons Alex and Ian of Lake Charles, LA; Jason and Heidi Houser, children Benjamin, Brandon and Abby of Twin Falls, ID; Joshua and Linda Houser, children Kylie, Matthew and Caleb of Saratoga Springs, UT; Shawn and Sue Cummins, son Spencer of Cumming, GA; Dustin and Mary Cummins, sons Carter and Blake of Marietta, GA; Tiffany Cummins of Orlando, FL; Daughters of Tony and Lucinda, Caitlin and Grace Cummins of Dallas, TX; Jeremy and LeAnne Sasser Collins and their three children. Great-granddaughter, Ashley and Joe Ransom and a great great grandson Brady Ransom, of Boise, ID. Mr. Cummins is preceded in death by his first wife of 53 years, Louise Reynolds Cummins, of Metropolis, IL; sister Jean Byrd of Savannah, GA; brother David Cummins of Metropolis, IL; sister Phyllis Morgan of Metropolis, IL. At his request, he was cremated. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, October 28, in Cocoa, FL with a private family burial in Twin Falls, ID.
