Obituary for John Walter Thuren John Walter Thuren, 82, of Twin Falls, passed away, Thursday, October 6th at St. Luke's Regional Medical Center, Twin Falls, Idaho. John was born July 14, 1929, to Walter and Linnea (Bostrom) Thuren in Santa Barbara, California. John served in the California Army National Guard and then the U.S. Army from 1950-1952. He served in the Korean War from 1950 to 1952. John married Billie Jo Pair in 1949 and from their union twin sons were born in 1951. The young family resided in Santa Barbara where John joined the Santa Barbara Police Department. He worked as a Police Officer and retired as a Homicide Detective in 1974. John and Billie then moved to Kimberly, Idaho where John enjoyed hunting and fishing. John was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Billie. John is survived by his sisters Florence (Gerald) Dunn and Ruth Bodine, and sister-in-law Beverly Gilmore all of Santa Barbara; his sons, Robert (Elizabeth) Thuren, Twin Falls, and Donald (Sheila) Thuren, Lompoc; grandchildren, Don, Tim, Tessa, Josh, Jeff, Lisa, Jason, and Jodi; and many great grandchildren. A private family service will be held at John's request. In lieu of flowers, the family invites donations be made to your local police department.
